"Our service person was Bill Fanning. He was excellent and explained everything in full detail! Bill was polite and respectful, and advised us on the best new sump pump to replace our non-working sump pump."

"I really liked CT Basement systems. The sales rep walked me through the process of the basement SaniDry I had installed. When the installer came it turned out that I didn’t need all of the duct work and I was able to save a few hundred bucks. The installer was very professional, neat and helpful . I definitely will hire this company again. Customer service even followed up with me a few days later and had to remind me to register the system (good thing because I had forgotten)."

"I made the mistake of not negotiating a rate or price before getting the work done. As a result I paid $1450 for the installation of a $400 piece of hardware. I really liked the work that was done but for 2 hours of labor I expected more like $350, not $1450."

"The service person came promptly and was able to install the faucet and a trash disposal unit that had been taken out when the countertop was replaced.  There was a slight adjustment that needed to be made in the piping for the trash disposal unit.  Everything was done in a professional manner.  However, the price was a bit high in my opinion to just put back what was disconnected.

"Installation of a new heat pump A/C system. A little difficulty in getting a final price quote but they did follow through and eventually got the job done. The staff are very courteous and hard working. I would recommend this company."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Every three to four months, you should clean any dirt and debris off of your sump pump. You should also check the inlet screen (at the bottom of the pump) to make sure that it isn’t blocked. On top of that, you should deep clean your sump pump once per year—or hire a sump pump pro to do it for you.

First, you can try unplugging the two sump pump cords, one for the motor and one for the float switch, then plugging them back in to reset the sump pump. You can also reset the sump pump by turning it off and back on at the breaker. Many sump pumps have a reset button, which you can press and hold for a few seconds to reset the device.

If your water pump fails, the first step is to turn off the power to the pump to prevent any further damage. Check for common issues such as clogs, electrical problems, or mechanical failures. If you cannot identify the problem, contact a professional who specializes in pump repairs. Prompt action can help minimize damage and repair costs.

Several indicators suggest it's time for a sump pump replacement. A key factor is age; if the pump is over 10 years old, its lifespan is likely ending. Performance issues are also clear signs, such as the pump running constantly, cycling on and off frequently, making unusual noises or vibrations, or failing to function at all. A faulty or burnt-out motor is another definite sign a replacement is needed. Additionally, if you notice any signs of incorrect installation, the pump should be replaced. For a definitive diagnosis, a vetted plumber can assess the pump and confirm whether a replacement is necessary.

Some sump pumps are powered by water rather than electricity. Water-powered sump pumps generally use one gallon of city water to pump out two gallons of water from its basin. Therefore, if you're looking at a potential 10,000-gallon flood, your sump pump will need to use 5,000 gallons of city water to prevent it.
