"Joe is very experienced and very professional to replace my well pump, bring up the well cap to above ground level and installed house water filter. He discussed the job in detail and gave a fair quote. He came on time and did the job at high quality. He cleaned up everything before he finish. He took the 5% Angies list coupon as well. Will use him again and highly recommended if you need well pump service!"

"They called back immediately from my initial message. They came first thing in the morning and by noon my new water heater was installed and up and running. They went over and beyond what I have ever experienced with other plumbing technicians. They explained everything up front and I found them to be highly knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this company and they have acquired a new lifelong customer based on their performance dealing with my situation."

"I really liked CT Basement systems. The sales rep walked me through the process of the basement SaniDry I had installed. When the installer came it turned out that I didn’t need all of the duct work and I was able to save a few hundred bucks. The installer was very professional, neat and helpful . I definitely will hire this company again. Customer service even followed up with me a few days later and had to remind me to register the system (good thing because I had forgotten)."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for simple repairs. Professional services ensure proper diagnostics and long-term reliability.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

A sump pump should be placed at least three feet deep in a pit. The rim of the sump pump basin should be level with your basement floor. If you find your pit is too deep, you can fill the bottom with gravel until the rim of the sump pump is flush with the floor.

Sump pump repairs are typically handled by plumbers or waterproofing specialists who are experienced in handling basement and foundation-related issues. Plumbers can address issues like clogs, electrical problems, and mechanical failures, and waterproofing professionals may be ideal if the sump pump is part of a larger drainage or waterproofing system.

Some people may also call on a general handyperson for minor sump pump repairs. However, for complex problems, hiring a certified plumber or waterproofing expert ensures the work is done correctly and prevents further issues.

When a backflow valve fails, wastewater will flow back into your system, contaminating your drinking water. You’ll immediately notice backflow valve failure from a rotten smell and brown water coming from faucets. Get in contact with a septic pro or a plumber immediately if you suspect this has happened to you.
