"Marc was a pleasure to work with. He answered any questions I had, gave me his opinion when prompted and did not try to upsell me. He was onsite for the start and completion of the project. His team was professional and extremely hard working. They covered the furniture prior to installing the windows and left the job site neat and organized. When an unanticipated problem came up Marc was very responsive and immediately addressed and mitigated the issue. He did not consider the job to be complete until I was totally satisfied. I had a question a few months after install and he showed the same attentiveness. I have recommended Highland Windows to several friends who have also been completely satisfied."

Small jobs welcome

"I've got a 112 year old hose that is pretty solid, but it had a cracked floor joist and part of the flooring wasn't properly supported. I hired Kristian and his team to install a couple of lally columns to support a carrying beam and sister a couple of floor joists. Many contractors wouldn't even return my call because I wasn't looking to complete a huge remodel job, but Kristian came over, gave me a fair verbal estimate on the spot, and worked with me on timing to complete the project. Not only that, but the solution wasn't overly complicated. The job was straightforward, completed exactly as described in the time described, and there was no scope creep. If I ever have a larger need, they'll certainly be my first call. I would highly recommend K&X construction if you need any services that they offer."

Eifs Installers questions, answered by experts

They meet local code demands for escape routes, lighten basements, and aid in reducing overall humidity.

A good U-factor for windows is 0.30 or lower, but they can range from 0.20 to 1.20. A general rule of thumb when it comes to the U-factor is that the lower, the better.

Yes, you can install a bay window in an existing house. You’ll need to have a structural engineer draw up plans to add the necessary support to your exterior load-bearing walls and a general contractor to make the changes to the framing around the new wall opening. This will cost an average of $3,000. After that work is done, a window installer can set the new bay window in place.

You install a window well 8 to 12 inches deeper than the base of the window sill. After filling the well with drainage rock, the well should sit 3 inches below the bottom of the window. The top of the window well should also be at least 3 inches higher than the surface-grade ground. The window well should be about 6 inches wider than the window opening.

An egress window is similar to a regular window. However, this type of window opens fully to allow people to escape the home or rescue personnel to enter the home if an emergency occurs. Egress windows are required in all finished basements before they can be considered a living space.
