Customers say: Terrific value

"I hired Danilo to power wash the exterior of my home, roof and siding. They came by to give a quote and scheduled the work right away. They did a great job and the house looks good as new. They also did the power wash work at my dad’s home and they also provided the same great customer service and did an awesome job there as well. Will be using them again in the future, and would recommend them again."

"Carolos was very accommodating since I had to cancel and reschedule twice due to weather. Hired to clean gutters, clean moss off garage roof, power wash front/back steps, patio and hse. He did an excellent job, came on time and very pleasant. Reasonably priced, would highly recommend"

"I hired Little Things Handyman to remove insulation from my basement ceiling. While doing so, he found that a few mice found their way into my basement. This company found where the mice were coming in, and closed up those areas so the mice will no longer be able to enter my home. Little Things Handyman & cleaning service removed all insulation, bagged same, and removed to a dumpster. They also did a fabulous job cleaning my basement when they were through. They cleaned up mouse droppings and made sure there was no mold. They were prompt, professional, and so pleasant! They went above and beyond. I plan to use them for any and all of my handyman and cleaning services!"

Pressure Washing questions, answered by experts

The ideal PSI (pounds per square inch) for a pressure washer depends on the surface you are cleaning. For general home use, a pressure washer with a range of 2,000 to 3,000 PSI is recommended and powerful enough for most residential projects.

The specific PSI you should use varies by task:

  • High-Pressure Tasks (2,500-3,000 PSI): Tough materials like concrete, stone, masonry, and brick can handle higher pressures. This is suitable for removing stubborn stains from driveways or cleaning graffiti.

  • Low-Pressure Tasks (around 600-1,300 PSI): Softer surfaces require a gentler touch to avoid damage. Use a low PSI setting for cleaning wood decks (especially softwoods like pine and cedar), vinyl siding, outdoor furniture, and stucco.

For best results, choose the right nozzle for your surface, such as a 15-degree nozzle for siding or a surface cleaner attachment for driveways. Using an extendable wand can also make the work easier and more ergonomic.

No matter the material, the best times to pressure wash or power wash a patio are spring and summer during a string of dry days. As long as the temperature is above 40 degrees Fahrenheit, you won’t encounter any cold-related issues. You need those dry days to ensure no algae or mold grows on the wet surface of the patio.

The average cost to professionally clean or pressure wash a deck is around $150, with prices typically ranging from $100 to $600. Several factors influence the final price, including the deck's size, material, condition, and how long it has been since its last cleaning. For a smaller deck of about 300 square feet, you might pay around $100. For a larger deck of 1,000 square feet or more, the cost could be closer to $300 to $400. Decks that are very dirty or haven't been cleaned in years may require more time and special detergents, which will increase the price. The deck's material also plays a role. Wood decks often cost more to clean because they require a gentle power washing technique to avoid damage. Composite decks are typically less expensive to clean, and cleaning a metal deck may cost around $100.

It is possible to pressure wash your deck, but it’s usually best to leave the work to a professional for two main reasons. First, power washers are expensive, and you can avoid high upfront costs by hiring a deck washing pro instead. Second, you must be careful to use the correct setting to avoid damaging your deck material. You can only clean soft woods like pine with a wide spray and a low pressure; otherwise, the water will leave unpleasant marks on your deck. Hard woods, composite material, and metal can stand up to increasingly higher water pressures.

Concrete does well with a number of cleaning agents, as it’s a durable material. Choose from acidic cleaners, alkaline cleaners, and pH-neutral cleaners, in addition to antibacterial solutions. Your best bet is to simply read the fine print with your preferred detergent and make sure it mentions concrete as a viable surface.
