"Our experience w/Bath Planet was wonderful. Dylan was on time, very thorough in making suggestions and explaining what we could expect during the process. He was always available to answer questions and make suggestions. Miguel and Tito were our installers. What these two gentlemen had to contend with during the remodel, the way they handled it and the fabulous job they did was nothing short of miraculous. We are very happy with our remodel and very happy that we chose Bath Planet."

"Great experience- requested a quote and got a response same day (this already felt like a victory since I inquired at 3 other companies and no one bothered to call back or show up!) The representative they sent out showed up on time, listened to me, and shared all my options. Nothing in the process felt pushy at all, and my husband and I got exactly what we wanted. The work was completed on time and they exceeded our expectations. I am planning to remodel our master bathroom next year and I will definitely be calling them."

Small jobs welcome

"I had K&X gut renovate two bathrooms and partition bedroom including building a new walk-in closet. I made it clear to them that I am picky :) and I expected professional work. They did an amazing job and I will use them again next year for a kitchen remodel."

"Iâ ve utilized Capital Construction for numerous projects, most recently to re-stain my front doors, paint the exterior trim, paint my kitchen and add decorative trim. They provide a detailed estimate of the project, arrive promptly and ready to work. Their staff is courteous and always tidy up when the work day is ended. When the project is completed, they do a walk through with the customer to ensure you are satisfied with the finished project. I have always been thoroughly satisfied and have recommended Capital Construction to numerous people."

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

Typically, a wet room costs more than a walk-in shower. Installing a walk-in shower costs an average of $6,700, but this price can go up for a customized shower with high-end materials. By comparison, the average price for building a wet room is $9,000, with the low end of this project hovering around $2,000 and going up to around $30,000 on the high end. Because a wet room often includes renovating the whole space, you’ll spend more on this project.

Whether it’s better to add a bathroom to an upstairs or downstairs floor will depend on the home’s layout and your needs. Powder rooms and guest bathrooms are commonly on lower levels, while primary bathrooms are upstairs. When deciding, consider where the bedrooms are located and where your family spends the most time. If you don't have a bathroom in the basement but use the space, adding a bathroom there could be a great option.

While any bathroom remodel has a positive return on investment, an en suite bathroom can significantly increase a home’s resale value. It makes a property more enticing to buyers with families, particularly those with young children. However, keep in mind that at least one of the bathrooms should have a tub.

Shower niches can be placed anywhere they will be most accessible for those in the shower. A shower niche should be close enough to the showerhead that it’s convenient to grab products, but not so close that it’s in the direct path of the water. You can also consider the overall shower design and favor symmetry, integrate the niche with the tile design, or hire a bathroom remodeling contractor to help you decide.

Common shower pan sizes are 30-by-30 inches and 42-by-32 inches, or you might want a contemporary, clean-lined 60-by-42-inch walk-in. When selecting the size and location of your custom shower, consider the other bathroom fittings, whether the shower door can open easily, and whether you’ll have to alter plumbing.
