"Paul called me right away. He was able to upgrade our builder grade sump pump with a real sump pump all in the same day! His pricing was very affordable. Thank you Paul for taking such good care of us. We will definitely use him again if needed and would highly recommend him."

"This is mostly about our installers. Mike and Vuk. Both were on time, courteous, and very professional in their work. The quality of the work they did in the install was first rate. If you can get them for an install, you won't be disappointed. The front office however, is another story. Our salesman, Keron was very personable when we met. Once we finally decide on the price for the install, which I still think is high, and signed the contract, we never heard another word from him. It was like take the money and run. We emailed about a promotion they had going on and never received a reply. If I had to rate Keron, it would be less than 1. We did have a project issue early on, that Bordner wanted to charge us for, but to their credit, it was waived. This an the value for the money make it hard to totally recommend. Again, the installers were fabulous. 5 Stars each."

"Had an emergency water pipe leak with water running into the basement where Groundworks had already installed a sump pump and drainage system. The pump clogged up with mud and wouldn’t work. Josh Moreno responded and worked so hard getting the system apart and cleaned out. Unfortunately he couldn’t finish until we got someone out to dig up the front yard and replace main water line. Josh was here first thing Monday morning and finished cleaning the system out, tested everything, and got everything working again. We are so thankful he responded to our home and took care of it. Thanks Josh!"

Customers say: Quick response

"They installed gutters on our horse barn. They were mindful of the horses' safety as we brainstormed ideas for the downspout that led into the horse paddock. Super easy to work with from the estimate to the install. Everyone I encountered was very kind and professional. Their pricing was also very competitive. Finally,"

"FOCO HVAC was, on the whole, very good to work with. Their sales person, Dave, took the time and trouble educate me rather than just sell me equipment. The installers were professional and cleaned up after themselves. My only negative experience had to do with the "go to" humidifier they recommended. This pass through humidifier dumps ten gallons of heated water a day (approximately) down the drain. I was not told that until after installation. I asked them to replace it with a water saver humidifier, which they did."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Most sump pumps come with power cords that can be plugged into an outlet, but there are options that can be hardwired into a home’s electrical system. Either way, it’s smart to have a backup power supply in case the electricity goes out during a storm. That way, the sump pump can keep running and removing water from the sump pit.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

A sump pump should be placed at least three feet deep in a pit. The rim of the sump pump basin should be level with your basement floor. If you find your pit is too deep, you can fill the bottom with gravel until the rim of the sump pump is flush with the floor.

You shouldn’t shower while a sump pump isn’t working. Although household wastewater isn’t supposed to go into the sump pit, it’s best to wait to shower until your sump pump is running properly and able to move excess water out of the basement. If you need to shower when the sump pump isn’t working, aim for a short shower.

There are a couple of similar alternatives you may consider for a sewage ejector pump, including a grinder pump or a submersible sump pump. Submersible sump pumps protect your home from flooding from outside water, though, rather than handling wastewater from inside. A grinder pump macerates, or shreds, solid waste before pumping it onward to the sewer line.
