Bordner Home Improvement Company

BLUF: Quality of work is superb, administrative management/communication atrocious. For cost, would expect a seamless experience. Background: My wife moved into a house made in 1969 with a fair amount of work necessary to really modernize the house. It was by luck, while at a farmers market we would run into Bordner. The two girls at the farmers market, gave minimal information but scheduled the follow up with a professional to do measurements and give the shpeal. We asked for a consultation for a front door/side window project. Official Consultation: The rep showed up on time and went through the entirety of customization, quality, etc etc. He was very professional. He did some basic measurements and we agreed on two side panes and the main door. The project was quoted roughly 8,000 dollars. At the end of the consultation they had a cheesy free vacation deal that felt a little scammy/time share based so we just ignored that. We were told it would take roughly 2-3 months for the door to be made and to expect an install date at the end of November. Communication: No communication gain to until 1. About a month in when we were told the door width was too small and to change the design--we agreed as the house has many quarks such as this but, would have been nice to know that earlier on... Next Communication 2. About another month goes by and we are hearing nothing, so we call and the person who picks up no longer works for the company? He gives us numbers that go to random people not affiliated with the business. We reach out to the general Bordner phone line and are told someone will get back to us Sometime later it is communicated to us that the rep we spoke with screwed up and that we needed new measurements. Jerry the owner comes to our house to redo the measurements--cool, shows some level of care. Following Communications After this the project is delayed and it requires me emailing Jerry to get any sort of update on the project. The door is delayed due to a "defect" at the factory. Then finally we have a scheduled install date of January 2nd, then the installer is sick. I understand people get sick but, I would think the company would reschedule someone else as we've already at this point been delayed, rescheduled, and hassled. The next install date, it's too cold. The finally install on 1/24/24--roughly 2 months delayed. Project: The installer called prior to the install gave an Estimated Time of Arrival. Very professional kept the work site clean. Good deconstruction of old material and high quality install of the product. Worked with us with a couple of hurdles. Slightly, standoff-ish but, I am not paying the guy to be my friend or make conversation--he loved my son though and hell that means the most to me haha. The door install at this time appears to be of high quality and no issue. There were a few blemishes on the siding--which I am resentful for because I had to wait so long--but I place no blame on the installer for this. Overall impression: The end goal was accomplished, but for 8,000 dollars for a front door, frame, side pane install I would expect better customer service, project management, and communication. I am not running their business nor do I wish to, but they are likely making decent margins on every install so it's not like it's a general contractor doing everything on their own. I would not recommend the company in the future, simply based on the cost and the headache I had to manage. If the company was more affordable with the headaches it would be understandable or if the cost was the same and the company was as easy as order and install cool fine, I am will to pay for that. It felt like I was on my way to becoming an employee with having to continually communicate.

I wrote a review earlier about a poor experience I had with this company, However, Magda was so kind to reach out to me and get everything resolved within her power, and I feel she went way above and beyond. I was extremely upset but she went out of her way to make sure that I was taken care of. She understood the money I had spent, and that a situation outside of her and the company's control was taken care of. I appreciate her for her service and would recommend this company as in the end, they did keep their word> I understand their policy but had a rouge salesperson tell me something completely different. Thank you for keeping your word for that rouge salesman.

I spent over $20,000 on new doors and windows, the salesmen told me that if something were to happen (a dog walking into the screen door, glass breakage, etc, was all covered under warrenty. ITS NOT. I just had a call with Nick who told me this is not covered. I am very upset and furious with this company as $20K is not a small amount of money, their salesmen flat out lied about the coverage, and nick said she would set up a call with me and the owner to discuss options. I will see if her follows through. they made a lot (well to me 20K is a lot) of money off of me and will not even do the right thing. These ethics are something a company needs to look at moving forwrd

Mike and NEAL where are my installers they were very and professional. My experience with them was wonderful. They were on time they cleaned up after themselves, and they had the work done in a couple of days, and I am so pleased with my new walk-in shower I would recommend them every time, so thank you so much.

I dearly wish I had never hired this company. It has been a year and a half with no end in sight. Please, do not use these guys.

This is mostly about our installers. Mike and Vuk. Both were on time, courteous, and very professional in their work. The quality of the work they did in the install was first rate. If you can get them for an install, you won't be disappointed. The front office however, is another story. Our salesman, Keron was very personable when we met. Once we finally decide on the price for the install, which I still think is high, and signed the contract, we never heard another word from him. It was like take the money and run. We emailed about a promotion they had going on and never received a reply. If I had to rate Keron, it would be less than 1. We did have a project issue early on, that Bordner wanted to charge us for, but to their credit, it was waived. This an the value for the money make it hard to totally recommend. Again, the installers were fabulous. 5 Stars each.

This review is more about the installer. The products purchased for the remodel are outstanding and exceeded my expectations. But Tylor, my installer, was extremly professional and very good at his job. THe entire job took only two days and the result is fantastic. He arrived on time, explained what he was going to do and went to work. He consulted with me on placement of some W items, so I got what I wanted and the way I wanted it. When he finished, everything was cleaned up, like he was never here. The work is beautiful and I am extremely happy with the outcome, it is better than I exoected I believe Tylor is a strong asset to the Bordner organization. Any future work I may need done, will be done by Bordner and hopefully Tylor as the installer. I cannot recommend the Bordner team strong enough for the quality of materials and the work that they do.

Brian and Vuk were courteous and very professional in replacing the five windows in our home. They were very prompt and both worked diligently to complete the project according to the schedule agreed-upon. My wife and I are very pleased with our new windows and we would highly recommend your company and particularly these employees to our friends and family in the future. Both employees should be considered a great asset to your company.

Mike and Bobby were fantastic craftsman and go the job done under two days.

This review is more about my installer, Mike; than it is about Bordner. Mike is a professional, a skilled craftsman. Polite and committed to providing the best possible service. He cleaned up all construction debris daily, he was so committed to providing this service, that my neighbor even commented on how wonderful it was to witness how amazingly professional Mike is. High marks to Mike. If you are fortunate enough to have him assigned to your project, you are definitely in good hands!

My install was challenging to say the least, but sometimes the hallmark of a great company is about what they do when things go awry. Mike was a genuinely great guy, kept me informed, and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy in the end!

Mike did an amazing job. Offering project enhancements which significantly improved the finished project. Not to mention he finished early.

From the very beginning, Bordner displayed the utmost professionalism and understanding of what our desires were and how their company could perform the jobs with excellence. We had a full tub and shower upgrade along with a walk-in shower in our master bathroom. The salesman and our main contact person took the time needed to present information about the company and he listened to our ideas. Everyone else from the project manager to the work crew were always very upfront and professional. We are so thrilled with our two new bathrooms and would highly recommend them.
