"Tech -Mike- after checking out the furnace is straight up and explained that he is not familiar with the modular furnaces. He did recommend a company that works on my type of home. Mike kept me informed on his arrival and very courteous.

"I had no heat during the coldest times in colorado springs. I finally returned sandy's call and I thought they couldn't help me because i needed HVAC not my ducts cleaned. She quickly suggested that Kyle can take a look and give me an honest assessment(since i was really concerned over the estimate the previous company gave me, and they never followed up...it was 36 degrees in my office!)anyway, i was so pleased that kyle right away, got my heat going temporarily while he had to get a part ordered. and then was up on my roof in sub zero weather and replaced that part. I am up and running and my patients are warm! there are other maintenance things left to be done, but I am super pleased with the work and the customer service. I love working with small businesses they really care about their customers satisfaction. Kyle, I want to hire you on as my regular maintenance guy! thank you sandy for your persistence to reach out to me! no regrets!"

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I highly recommend K & C Heating Plumbing and Cooling! They recently installed my new furnace and AC, and the entire process was smooth and professional. Their customer service is excellent—friendly, responsive, and focused on making sure I was comfortable with every step. The installation itself was top-notch; the team worked efficiently, explained the system thoroughly, and left everything clean and tidy. On top of that, their price beat every other estimate I received, giving me great value without sacrificing quality. I’m extremely satisfied and will absolutely turn to K & C for any future heating and cooling fixes or installation."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

One of the first signs of mold in an air conditioner is a musty smell. You're likely to notice the smell when the unit runs, from the air coming out of the vents or the unit itself. You may also be able to see mold growing on the unit, such as near the condenser coils or by the fan. In some cases, there may be visible mold by the vents.

Unfortunately, a freon leak will persist even when your AC unit is off. The freon in the AC unit is under pressure no matter the status of the system, so it will continue to drip through the leak even when you shut off the entire unit. It will continue to leak freon until it’s completely empty.

The DOE is phasing out AC units with SEER ratings that fall below 14 or 15. The exact minimum rating depends on your region. In the northern United States, new ACs must have a minimum SEER rating of 14, though you can still buy and install older systems as long as they were compliant when they were manufactured. In the southern and southwestern United States, you cannot buy or install older air conditioners with lower SEER ratings. The minimum rating is between 14.5 and 15, depending on the power of the unit.

It’s critical to use the right size AC for your space and not go too small or too big. If you purchase an undersized unit, it won’t properly cool your house, and it has to work harder to reach the optimal temperature. This will eventually wear your unit out. An oversized unit can spell trouble because it will turn off and on more frequently, which also wears out your AC unit. An oversized unit also causes humidity in the home.

Both evaporator coils and condenser coils are recyclable and contain valuable, sellable metals such as copper and aluminum. Not only is it more earth-friendly to take them to a local metal recycling facility, but you can also trade them in for cash. Also, once the coils are removed from the system, they won’t have any traces of refrigerant, so you won’t have to arrange for recycling Freon or R-410A unless you’re disposing of the entire AC system.
