"We had an excellent experience with Elevated Environments from start to finish. Nick listened to what we needed and kept revising as we went until we came up with the perfect plan. Communication was excellent throughout. The crew was unobtrusive and efficient. Our drainage problem is fixed and we ended up with a beautiful fire pit area. We cannot recommend this company more highly."

"Jen2 Excavating is an exceptional company in multiple ways. Yes, Marcus Garcia and his Jen2 team are prompt, polite, hardworking, from start to finish and estimate and price the work accurately and fairly. There is more to the story. We attempted to contact eight Pueblo and Pueblo West Companies to clear the tall grass, weeds, and brush that was rapidly overtaking our desert landscaped property. We sent them all a brief standardized description of the work and the land areas involved. Jen2 alone, responded immediately, came out the same day to estimate the work, and a week later our acre size yard was restored and cleared, and we were delighted with the work done. The other service companies contacted either failed to respond altogether or sent prefabricated emails and text messages within the time it took Jen2 to finish the work. So, start by contacting Jen2 if you have tall grass, weeds, and brush removal job, and avoid the disinterested candidates."

"From the very beginning our experience with Kessler, Inc has been exemplary. We were in need of a specific septic system for our new build up in Crystal Park. Not very many companies will work up here unfortunately because it is very challenging. We had pleasant and informative communication from the start with Levi from texts messages and emails to coming out to view our property. He listened to our needs and not only was Levi able to construct a state of the art septic system on the side of the mountain but this marvel also drew the attention of El Paso county engineering who sent a team out to view it. Levi has since tackled so many more extensive projects like building a retaining wall that covers the entire upper portion of our driveway that runs along the back of our home and into the custom swim spa that his is building for us to digging out a large space to install our underground propane tank. He has also excavated a large chunk of the mountain out to widen our switchback driveway that he built the reinforced retaining wall for. He trenched our entire driveway to lay pipes for our water lines, our gas lines, and our septic. We have a water feature planned for our future and we know our vision is in beyond capable hands with Levi. Levi is also just genuinely good person. He has a very positive attitude and always pleasant even with all the hard work he and his team put in. Everyone is super friendly and we are happy to have them here with us helping make our dream come true. We trust Levi and his team in and around our home. Even had Levi lock up our home and close our garage on many occasions. We are so happy to have found Levi. You know you have a great partnership with a business owner and his team when you keep seeing more and more projects we know we can trust Kessler, Inc to not only take care of our needs but do it all with exemplary work. Hereâ  s to many more years of partnership and beautiful projects to come."

"David, excavated old septic tank, replaced with new tank, hooked up tank to house, filled in and covered the new tank. Leveled the land, raked the area affected and applied grass seed. Clean up was great! Was always available to answer questions. We would hire him again."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Digging a well can cost between $20 and $25,000, depending on your needs. If you’re looking to dig a well yourself, all you need is a shovel. If you’re looking to have a well drilled by a professional, you can expect to pay around $15 to $30 per foot. The total cost of drilling a well will average to $5,500.

The average cost of excavation is approximately $3,200, with typical projects ranging from $500 to $15,000. Depending on the contractor, you may be charged between $50 and $200 per cubic yard or an hourly rate of $40 to $180 for an excavation specialist. The total cost is influenced by several factors, including the project size, the amount of soil to be removed, and the soil's condition. Hard soil, tree roots, or excessive rocks and clay can increase the price, potentially adding $200 to $1,200 to the final bill. Other factors that can drive up costs include the presence of nearby structures that complicate the work or tight spaces that require manual excavation instead of heavy machinery.

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

Underground downspouts refer to the sections of downspout extensions that lead away from your home and gutter system. While they cost more than traditional extensions, they can provide several benefits, such as less frequent damage and no need to move them for lawn care tasks. Whether they're worth it or not depends on your budget at installation time and how much convenience they'll add to your situation.

Drilled wells have a pipe sticking up that’s covered in a plastic or metal casing. On the other hand, a dug well will look like a big hole in the ground and is more similar to what you’d see in a fantasy or Western movie. If you want to be sure, contact the city for documentation on your property’s construction and excavation history.
