Customers say: Quick response

"John N Eddie were great to work with. They were both friendly and highly professional throughout the entire process. They used professional equipment to complete the tree removal and stump grinding efficiently. Whether we were talking before the work started or during the job, they were always courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. They arrived around 8:15 a.m. and completed the entire project by approximately 1:00 p.m. After removing the trees and grinding the stumps, they thoroughly cleaned the work area. They also repaired my fence after finishing the job, as they had needed to open it to access and remove a tree in the backyard. I was very pleased with the quality of their work and attention to detail. I would definitely recommend John N Eddie to anyone looking for a professional and reliable company for tree removal and stump grinding."

"Excellent! Mr. Ceas was prompt and friendly. After viewing the area and providing a reasonable quote, he returned the following day to complete the work: trimmed a hedge, cut down overgrown weeds, hauled all clippings and weeds away. I highly recommend his services!"

"The crew just left my place and did an outstanding job! I had no idea my trees could look so good. They worked on 8 for me, some oak and 2 huge Sycamores. Sorry guys for all that nasty pollen! They know what they are doing and were prompt. When Joel came out to do the bid he actually told me he could not do some of what I wanted because it would damage the trees or give me unwanted growth. I appreciate the honesty and the desire to protect the trees. I will and have already highly recommended them to my neighbors. Thank you to Joel, his brother, father and the whole crew.If I could give 10 stars I would. Prompt, very reasonable price, cleaned up nicely after and the trees look great. Customer service is outstanding. If I need more work I will be calling you again!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Make sure the tree roots soak around a day before you dig the tree up for the transplant. Keep the roots wet while the tree is above ground. After the transplant is finished, provide consistent water every day for the first month or so. You don’t want to overwater the tree, but you do want to keep the roots wet so they can thrive in their new environment.

There are a few differences between tree guying and tree staking. Tree guying requires anchor stakes that are shorter and stronger than regular stakes and are driven deeper into the ground at an angle away from the tree. Tree staking uses longer stakes that are set parallel to the tree and are used for smaller trees. Consult a local tree professional to determine which method is best for your tree.

You can find pruning paints and sealants for trees, but you shouldn’t use them on a topped tree. Coatings like these often inhibit the tree’s healing process. An important exception is if there are dangerous fungi nearby that the tree is particularly vulnerable to, like oaks and oak wilt. Sealing cuts can help prevent fungi from taking root.

Yes, the same rules discussed above apply to your neighbor: They can trim one of your trees as long as they’re only cutting the portion that extends into their property. Your neighbor is not allowed to access your property without permission, nor can they cut past the property line.

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.
