"He and his crew did an outstanding job. Karol is meticulous, knowledgeable, a perfectionist and he expects the same from his team. He obviously has a great relationship with his workers and they all seem to have a great respect for him. A great formula for outstanding work. He and his crew are neat, cleanup, on time and really good guys. I’d strongly recommend Karol for any work you are considering him for. His cost is also very reasonable. He is definitely on my list of contractors that I would hire again, and whom I would recommend to my friends."

"Tool Time Home Improvement was exactly what we were looking for. Other contractors wouldn't even consider the job because it was too small, but Tool Time responded to my inquiry within a few hours, came out to check out the space a few days later, got me a quote for the work the same day, and started work the same week. We are so thankful for the good, quick work Tool Time Home Improvement provided. The workers were always prompt, communicative, tidy, and they checked everything twice to make sure it was done right. I would definitely recommend these guys, and I will be calling them again should the need arise."

"We are very happy with this company. They have done some work at our townhouse and we are definitely hiring them for any other future renovations. It is so difficult to find a contractor you can trust and when we met Ofer, we are very pleased. He is easy to talk to and he listened to what we want to get done and worked with our budget."

Small jobs welcome

"Eric took over a partially completed remodeling job. The job
included framing a new floor where there had been a sunken conversation pit,
hanging doors, replacing the old baseboards and completing a wall with new drywall.
His bid was very reasonable and he completed the job quickly and efficiently. I
would use him again and I would definitely recommend him to others.

"Looking for a great contractor, don't look any further. This man is great. He might be a little higher than other contractor bids, but he doesn't miss a single thing that could cost you MORE money up the road. And, he passes inspections with flying colors. I remodeled a small master bathroom. I basically did the choosing of the shower tile, floor tile, (where Ohad took me shopping) ; accessories, and paint, with a little input of help from Ohad here and there. He's the man with the experience. Answers all your questions and give you good advise. The bathroom turned out beautiful. I couldn't love it more - I am SO happy. BUT........... The main reason for the finished project looking so great, is the workmanship. Ohad has great employees. Well experienced, on time, and clean up after themselves, AND would work with me any way they could. They ALL had a great sense of humor, including Ohad. I feel laughter is the best healer of all, and it also means you are having a good time while working.. I have COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) along with many other health problem, making dust, smoke and chemicals my worse enemies. The Ohad family really took care of me. Put up plastic to the ceiling around my bed and installed a zipper in it so that I could get to my bed. This was needed for me to rest/sleep during the day and take an oxygen treatment. They would even give me a heads up when using chemicals so I could put my mask on - which I had on a lot anyway, because of the dust. I have a lot more projects to be done..........and guess who's going to get hired???? Smile"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

When hanging a door frame, it’s recommended that you use screws, not nails. Screws are more secure, easier to tighten, and easier to remove if you need to adjust the frame. On average, the cost to replace a door frame is about $400, but you can save on labor costs if you’re confident in your ability to DIY the project.

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.

Your local building code will list all the framing requirements for whatever type of structure you're building. Most exterior walls require spacing of 16 inches on-center, while many non-load-bearing interior walls only require 24 inches of spacing. However, there are also varying requirements depending on your construction material, so checking your municipality's rules is essential.

Using a steel frame may raise the value of your home. Steel is more heat resistant, has better longevity, and doesn’t need any upkeep compared to traditional wood. You can also customize a steel build a little easier than other materials like brick, concrete, and vinyl—which have trouble bending and adapting to renovations.

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.
