Customers say: True professional

"Picking a contractor can be stressful. Referrals, online research, getting estimates. And there's no way to know for sure if you've made the right choice until the job starts, and by then you've likely signed the contract and put down your hard-earned deposit money. I had several companies out for an exterior painting estimate, and ultimately settled on Anytime House Painting. The owner, John, provided a low-key, thoughtful explanation of what was needed, what it would cost, and what I could expect if I went with them. He offered a very reasonable price with no high pressure sales pitch. I had read the online reviews, which were all good, but there are a lot of companies out there with good reviews. Ultimately, what made the difference was that John mentioned they were a family-run business. It wasn't part of the sales pitch, it just came up in response to my questions. I guess anyone could say that (though none of the other estimators did), and it may or may not be important to the quality of the work, but in this case, I think it made a difference. When they started the job, it was John's father who showed up to supervise the crew, and he was there every day until the job was completed. The house had not been painted for awhile, which meant there was extensive prep work. While that was being done, John came back more than once with sample colors until I got just the right combination, because the really do look different once they're actually on the house. The crew was on time every day, went about their business without disturbing me (I work from home), and performed above and beyond all expectations. I cannot recommend them more highly. The last time the house was painted, I did it myself. This time, I left it to the professionals. Anytime House Painting. It was a good decision."

"We had an empty house that was between renters. 3 Beds, 3 Baths, 2 stories. When I called Jason Secor, I thought I didn't need so much painting... maybe a little touch-up. By the end, he had suggested some great ideas, such as refreshing the stain on my kitchen cabinets, repairing some doggy damage to several doors and screens, and painting the garage in a nice fresh coat of white. MAN oh man! -- What a huge difference! I absolutely LOVE my walls thanks to Secor Painting! (That's not something I ever imagined myself saying... My walls were always just walls. But now it seems like they're finally dressed. And that without paint, they'd be naked! Secor Painting uses painters who are very detailed and don't mess up the small stuff. Like, they keep the "seams straight" in the edge between two colors; they cover up the carpets and take down the drapes; they don't get paint drips on the light fixtures. I found virtually NO flecks or splatters. Very unusual! If I had to think of one negative, it might be that the company worked SO fast (on my request) that they painted some of the walls without waiting for my choice of color. As soon as I brought up the misunderstanding with the owner, he was quick to take care of it, and the walls were re-painted the right color. Also, Secor's prices were higher than another painter I considered. But I don't regret the decision. You have to look at your interior paint every minute of every day! Overall I would completely recommend them! Just be sure to be up front and clear about your color choices and timeline. You'll be very happy with the quality."

"Thank you to Darren with Got Paint. It?s hard to find someone you trust and does what they say, Got Paint does just that! They were on point throughout the whole job. Highly communicative, highly knowledgeable and offered various solutions to some problem areas on my stucco. They offered different paint grades and their professional opinions. Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

The best exterior paint for the job of painting your front porch depends on the material you’ll be painting. Acrylic paint is often recommended for a wooden porch as it’s durable and easy to apply. If your porch is made of concrete, you’ll need to find a formula suited to that material.

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

Hot, intense sunshine can cause your stain to dry too quickly, which could lead it to look uneven or patchy. If you’re staining the deck during hotter months, it’s best to do it in the morning or evening once the wood has had time to cool down. If you’re staining in cooler weather with less sunshine, the time of day won’t make as much of a difference.

Adding a second coat of stain to wood can even out the color to some extent, but it won't drastically alter the hue if the initial application is too light or too dark. It's more effective at enhancing the richness of the color rather than significantly changing it. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.
