"We’ve been at our house for 13 years and in that time have gone through 5 different landscaping companies. Green Life Landscape is our preferred landscaping company, we’ve been using them for about 3 years now and we are very happy with their service. The time and the care Jose and his team provide during each visit is really appreciated. I love getting home from work on landscaping day and seeing the lawn freshly cut and the flowers and shrubs looking on point."

"Eric came to my aid swiftly and willing to work within my budget restraints. I had a very large clean-up project for him to handle and needed monthly maintenance going forward. He was very personable and professional, willing to manage any project. He asked me to take a look and let him know what I thought might need further attention."

"I had a huge job that seemed almost impossible ? there was a lot of fire hazard material that needed to be cleaned up, and I wasn?t sure it could even get done. Thankfully, this company came through. Their customer service was outstanding from start to finish ? they were professional, responsive, and truly cared about getting the job done right. The workers were hardworking, respectful, and made the entire process so much smoother than I expected. I?m beyond grateful for their help and would highly recommend them to anyone needing serious cleanup work!"

Lawns questions, answered by experts

While a river may seem safer than the street, blowing leaves into the water can cause a lot of problems. Leaves can alter the local ecosystem, encourage bad algae growth and block narrow waterways. In large numbers, leaf debris can lead to fish death events in nearby bays or lakes and require expensive dredging to address. That’s why many cities also ban blowing leaves into water.

Water regularly, avoid heavy foot traffic, and clear debris promptly to support lawn health.

It’s unlikely your leaves are a hazard, especially if you get to them while they’re dry. However, a couple of rare risks exist. University studies suggest that decaying leaves can produce organochlorines, toxic pollutants similar to man-made PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), so avoid keeping them in an enclosed area.

Also, leaves and compost may cause the growth of fungi that can cause diseases like histoplasmosis and aspergillosis, as well as mold spores that are unhealthy for human lungs. Again, severe issues are rare, but those with compromised immune systems or allergies to mold should wear face masks when directly handling leaves.

It can be bad to leave a dead stump in the ground. A stump becomes a hefty piece of dead wood in time and eventually (especially with the help of rain) starts to rot. That makes it a locus point for diseases and pesky insects, as well as a bit of an eyesore. It’s best to remove a tree stump completely before it starts to decay, especially before it starts to fall apart. If the tree was removed because of disease, it’s even more important to fully remove the stump if possible.

Removing leaves prevents mold growth and ensures grass gets sunlight and air circulation.
