The leaking riser section pipe was underground only 6 inches and the entire excavation was about 18 in long x 6 in wide x 8 in deep approx, done by hand tool. He spent more time trying to upsell me a full length underground pipe replacement and trenching than talking about the repair at hand. When I toyed with the idea of a new line above ground without the excavation cost, he described the most absurd design of mounting the new line 3 feet off the ground to show me how ugly and indicated that is the regulation, which is not true. The line and certainly touch ground."

Since we were doing more than one item he offered us a package deal. Due to high pressure our water heater was busted. After replacing regulator and installing a new water heater the issue was sold. He gave me the full range of possible remedies, from installing a eaves gutter on the roofline outside the bedroom to a full (very expensive) sealing of the entire exterior foundation. And actually recommended that we start with the gutter (which I can do myself) and then monitor the area next rainy season and see if that fixes the problem.
