"I called this morning, and they showed up at my house within two hours. It was a simple fix. The overall price was more than I expected, but I wouldn't complain since they came out so fast. "Matt did an excellent work and I am very happy! It’s been at least two weeks and no issue from my water heater - no leaks. He was very responsive and he cleaned his work. It is not easy to find someone who can do both in replacing the damaged walls and installing the water heater. I hesitated at first how much he was charging for it was very affordable. It wasn’t a scam and he did an excellent work."

Most people consider a French drain to be one of the most effective solutions for foundation leaks, but it’s not always a standalone solution. French drains will help keep water away from your foundation to reduce the risk of leaking and structural damage from soil expansion, but depending on your foundation type and location, you might need other systems or techniques—like soil gradation and gutter and leader installation—to resolve the underlying problem.

The purpose of crawl space encapsulation is to prevent mold by blocking moisture and reducing humidity. If the vapor barrier is properly installed, it significantly reduces the chance of mold developing within the crawl space. However, mold can sometimes grow behind the encapsulation material, but it will be sealed away from the main area. Additionally, moisture can still condense inside the encapsulated space, so if you notice excess humidity, installing a dehumidifier is recommended to prevent mold and mildew growth.

If you set up a dehumidifier, it will usually dry out your wet crawl space within 12 to 24 hours. Once the space is dry, it’s a good idea to take preventative measures to keep it dry. These include installing a French drain or other exterior foundation drainage system, installing a sump pump in the crawl space, and installing a vapor barrier in addition to leaving the dehumidifier running.

Sandbags are the most common and efficient way to create a flood barrier at home. Some local authorities pass them around to homes before the risk of a flood. Otherwise, you can use flood-proof house materials, like burlap or woven plastic bags, to make sandbags and fill them with sand or cat litter. Make sure that when you stack them, they’re tightly laid on top of each other, creating the effect of a firm wall against accumulating water.

Although the two terms are closely related and often used interchangeably, pier and beam foundations and crawl spaces are different things. A pier and beam foundation is made up of concrete piers and wooden beams and creates a space under the home known as a crawl space. There are several types of foundations that create crawl spaces, often collectively known as “crawl space foundations,” but the crawl space itself is separate from the foundation.
