"Excellent. Very professional, clean, thorough. Left a few traps in the crawl space and was confident nothing else was under there but came back to check since there was no longer a way for any animal to get out since they did such a fantastic job rodent proofing every opening of the house."

During this introduction to the world of beekeeping I became fascinated in every aspect of the life of bees and the people who tend to them called apiarist. With support from my teacher, Scott Jeffery's and many other friends and family I decided beekeeping is what made me passionate, loving the unknown of what was behind a buzzing wall in someones home as I began a hive removal, reaching into beach ball sized swarms of bees coxing them into their new home or educating children at schools why bees are an essential part of our ecosystem. Bee Friendly Honey has now served hundreds of customers since March of 2013. In the future I hope Bee Friendly Honey can help you in your time of need, just remember, Be Happy, Be Healthy, Bee Friendly Honey - Meet the Business Owner: Steven H. - Ever since I was a young boy I can remember lifting up stones, wood logs, bricks, pavers, anything that might conceal some type of bug or animal. As I grew older my room became filled with terrariums and aquariums that brought the natural world I so craved to be in right inside my home. The glass enclosures teaming with sound and life, sharing secrets that only the most observant entomologist could decipher. I grew up, wondering if there was ever going to be a way for me to keep learning from the most wonderful teacher I'd ever had, nature herself. During this exposure to nature I also developed a green thumb nursing plants back to life and growing new and exotic ones from seeds and cuttings. This is when I decided to attend Cal Poly State University, studying plants and flowers that grew with the vigor of my imagination. Then one day working in the flowers i saw a honey bee, my eyes lit up as I realized I had finally found a way to follow my heart, and be one with the bees..

I was taught this business at an early age by my stepfather and after working in and out of the industry for many years decided to start a business. I first started with a partner in Sacramento (where I lived for a short while, home town is Santa Cruz), we founded Blizzard Pest Management, Inc. Then 4 years ago I moved back to Santa Cruz and established Haderle Pest Control because I knew there was a great need for real solutions to the many recurrent raccoon, skunk, and rat problems here. Birds, bats, and ants are an occasional invader but it seems those former three pose a challenging problem to many pest control companies not experienced with them.
"I called Haderle because I thought we had a dead mouse stuck in the wall of our shop - a very bad thing since we pride ourselves on having a high quality, great smelling shop and anything that compromises that like a bad odor (that could be a dead animal) is a crucial issue and cannot wait. I left a message thinking I would not hear back soon (as usually the case with phone messages) and yet Jon called me shortly thereafter - pleasant surprise #1. We discussed the situation at length. Jon asked me several specific questions, covering important details for me to consider and look at (e.g. holes in the wall, type of smell etc) in order to save me money. He really knew what it might or might not be and the approach we might have to take. He said then he could come out and assess the situation and figure out what the next steps might be which could include opening a small hole in the wall to retrieve the body, etc. He was clear & patient on the phone. We agreed to start with the sniff test and go from there. He came that very day, a few hours later and ...sniffed carefully around the exact area I had been smelling this awful odor in for the last 5 days. He was thorough and started on hands and knees, along the wall , in the corner, looked at the holes in the closet, smelled higher up and repeated ... he discovered the problem odor source almost immediately. It was these pretty little flowers I had picked a week prior and put in a lovely hand blown Japanese vase on display. Yes, those lovely flowers I had picked from a GARLIC CHIVE plant I tended just outside our shop. And the smell from those pretty pink flowers, as they dried, was the most stinky, garlicky, sulfer smell which permeated my store. It was so darn funny when he figured it out - and he did it so quickly too. I had cleaned EVERYTHING in the last few days - I mean everything. Took apart the 6' tall floor fountain, changed the water (which smelled fine so we knew it wasn't it), swept, vacuumed, used vinegar and was so positive it had to be a dead mouse that went through a hole in our storage closet that shared the same wall as our shop. When Jon said it was the flowers - and held them for me to smell - I could not stop laughing. I was so relieved. I found John to be responsive, personable, with great attention to detail and I would most definitely call him again for any issue concerning pest control."

DIY animal removal is rarely a good idea and is not advised for many reasons. First, these types of animals can carry diseases and, therefore, pose a health risk to you, your family, and your pets if mishandled. Second, depending on your city or municipality, it may be illegal to remove or handle wildlife yourself.
Sealing your home against these animals yourself is also a bad idea. Trapping an animal under your house will cause odor and insect problems when it passes away.
Pest control is not the same as animal removal. Pest control specialists treat for insects and bugs, often by using chemicals. Animal removal specialists try to avoid chemicals if possible and instead work to trap and move the animal that's causing problems.
Since each expert has their own removal methods, it's best to contact a pest control professional for insects and bugs and an animal control specialist for other animals.
Animal removal specialists specialize in removing critters and wildlife from in and around your home. These include:
Bats
Birds
Groundhogs
Moles and voles
Opossums
Mice and rats
Raccoons
Skunks
Squirrels
The specialist's method to remove these critters will depend on the animal. For example, groundhogs will be live-trapped and relocated, whereas, for birds, the expert will remove and discard the inactive nest and sanitize the area.
You might be tempted to call your local municipality to remove animals from your property, such as a groundhog burrowing in your yard or raccoons getting into your trash cans. However, they typically only remove domestic animals like dogs and cats from properties, or sick and injured wildlife that pose a public safety risk or health threat, such as a rabid animal. They typically do not capture or remove healthy wildlife.
Animal removal professionals have the tools, knowledge, and skills to trap and remove wild animals adequately and humanely. They also can relocate them correctly.
Professional animal removal costs between $200 and $600 for average homeowners. However, depending on the type and number of critters removed, this cost could range from $85 to $1,400.
This cost does not include the cost of home damage caused by the animal, which could be as low as $300 for minor drywall repair or as much as $15,000 for crawl space cleaning and restoration.
