Howard Brooks-Korn is a terrific veterinarian. I have taken my "critters", a collection of dogs and kitties, to him for years. Dr. Brooks-Korn is extremely smart. He is a thorough, caring, and very intelligent vet. He excels at diagnosing and treating animals-he is not afraid to call specialists for their input (i.e. he has no ego problems involving others' opinions), and he has no problems referring an animal to a specialist if need be. Don't get me wrong, he can handle most things himself, but he takes a collaborative approach when appropriate. Dr. Brooks-Korn has a sunny and fun personality, and he makes it fun (for the owners at least!) to bring the animals in for veterinary care. Dr. Brooks-Korn feels that the animals do better if the owners are with the animals during many of the (non-surgical) procedures, which I really like (other veterinarians tend to spirit the animals away for mysterious testing and treatments "in back", but not Dr. Brooks-Korn, he lets the owners be present, which tends to calm the animals). On occasion, he has even suggested that I leave another of my dogs at the clinic with the "patient", so that the patient will be less stressed and will feel comforted by the other's presence. I recommend Dr. Brook-Korn without reservation. He is the BEST!
