I am giving three stars because they estimated the cost to be almost 250% higher than what the actual cost was to fix the issue. I am sure there are customers out there that would just accept any bid however, please get multiple beds for these projects, especially when working with this company as they will inflate the cost to take advantage of the situation. I ended up only paying for the $79 estimate."

"We chose Sami and Sons over 3 other contractors we interviewed with to remodel our bathroom, and we couldn't be happier. After meeting with Abel and Sami himself we discussed a very reasonable cost estimate for the work that needed to be done. Abel even took us out shopping to several tile and home improvement stores to fan our imaginations of what could be possible for our new bathroom. Throughout the entire process the staff from their front office to their onsite project manager Paul were always very responsive and helpful. This was our first major remodel and laborers were very knowledgeable about creating the bathroom we wanted to achieve while keeping up to date with building codes and city permits. Mario and Erick always asked us questions on how we wanted details in the bathroom to turn out. Always gave us suggestions when we were clueless, and always advised us properly when choosing fixtures and other materials for the build. It was very helpful and reassuring that the managers used the BuilderTrend scheduling app so we knew what tasks were to be completed and on what days so my wife and I could plan things ahead of time. There was a miscommunication about the work at one point, but once we were able to talk to the project manager and other managers on the job they were able to resolve the issue very quickly and to our satisfaction. Yes, the thawing process is often the reason frozen pipes burst in the first place. Though it may seem like the freezing itself causes a pipe to burst, it's actually the pressure that builds inside the pipes in your home that really contributes to the pipe bursting. As the ice melts, more pressure builds in the pipes. That pressure increases further if some of the water thaws only to refreeze.

In most areas, drain cleaning professionals don’t technically need a license, as they aren’t altering your plumbing system in any way. However, we recommend hiring a drain cleaning professional with a plumbing license and certification. Certified plumbers are more likely to provide professional solutions to drain clogs without damaging your system. They’ll also have the diagnostic tools and experience necessary to remove the clog entirely rather than providing a temporary solution, as a handyperson might. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your plumber’s professional licenses before hiring.

The only downsides to hiring a master plumber is that they charge a higher hourly rate than a less experienced plumber. Plus, master plumbers likely have less availability, given the demand for highly experienced professionals. The benefits far outweigh the cons, though. Upsides include the following:

  • More professional repair

  • More experience fixing your specific issue

  • Recourse if something goes wrong

  • Warranty for the work (in some cases)

  • Some insulation from lawsuits if the plumber gets injured on your property

It can be helpful to open one or two faucets before turning on the water main again. Turning off the main shut-off valve will introduce some air into your pipes. Having at least one faucet open should allow the air to clear as the water refills the pipes. Try to open faucets far from the main shut-off valve and on the highest floor of the house.

PVC pipes are easy to cut out and replace if you have minimum plumbing knowledge. To replace a portion of PVC pipe by yourself, use a hacksaw to cut out the damaged portion and empty out the water. Then, attach the new pipe and secure the ends with the proper PVC pipe fittings to prevent any leakage.
