"We suffered water damage to the hickory floor in our home after the storms of January & February 2023. We contacted Clark’s Hardwood Floors, Inc. for help. We were very happy with Clark’s through all phases of refinishing, from the initial estimate through job completion. Their estimate was significantly lower than a competitor’s bid, their office staff was delightful to deal with, and their refinishing crew was superb. Our refinishing crew was Jorge (lead) and Nidiro. Jorge let us know exactly what to expect and when, which helped us plan our own activities around the job. They used the “atomic dust-free system” to sand off the old finish. It really was dust free! They were thorough and meticulous in everything they did. And, although the old finish was removed completely along baseboards and in every nook and cranny, our baseboards were not even nicked! Every flaw in the floor was meticulously addressed. These guys were excellent craftsmen! Because we had had issues in front of the kitchen sink, at Larry Moreno’s suggestion the new finish was completed with Traffic Commercial Grade polyurethane. The result was stunning! Our hickory floor looks better than ever before! We are thrilled with the results! All our interactions with Clark’s have been excellent! We recommend them highly!"

"Mr. Dubinsky was professional from the very start! He did a great job of explaining when I had questions and relieved and concerns I had about the job. We had put off having flooring installed because a good portion of it was ceramic tile and glued linoleum. We imagined it taking days to demolish all of the floors. I couldn’t believe it when his crew completed that back breaking work in one day! We were very impressed with how precise his crew installed our Pergola flooring and baseboards. Absolutely flawless!"

"When we decided to clean and organize the garage, I looked at both epoxy flooring and garage floor tiles. After looking at the cost of tiles I decided to get a couple of quotes on epoxy. Jose gave an estimate and then came to give me an actual quote. His price was very fair (compared to the other quotes) and he communicated well about the process and the materials used, so we decided to go with ARCEO right then. Jose and his team arrived when they said and asked if they could start or if I wanted to wait, due to the noise of the vacuum and grinder...very thoughtful. Before they started they moved both a refer and chest freezer from the garage to the side of the house. There were 5 guys the first day and 3 the second, and Jose was there both times and worked along side of his workers. This was no "hand of to someone else" sort of company. When they finished, the floor looked fabulous, their attention to detail and cleanliness was first rate. I can't recommend Jose & ARCEO more highly. As they were finishing on the second day, Jose asked if they could come back in 5 days and move the refer and freezer back into the garage. This was unexpected, amazing and very, very helpful."

"I own a salon in Sunnyvale and needed floors that would hold up to heavy daily use but still be easy to clean. Hairdressers are messy!! After considering epoxy and concrete staining, I went with concrete staining and I’m so glad I did. The floors look amazing and the difference is huge! Super happy with the results — highly recommend Captain Floor Coatings!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

The relative cost of adding an epoxy coating to your garage varies compared to other flooring materials and the type of epoxy. For example, epoxy can cost between $3 to $12 per square foot to install, which typically costs more than other garage flooring options, such as concrete sealers, vinyl, and concrete stain. In comparison, vinyl SPC flooring for garages cost between $3.50 to $8 per square foot and concrete sealer costs $50 to $420, depending on the type of sealant.

You can save money on labor costs by removing your old carpet before the professionals come in to install the new carpet. Just make sure to clear it with your contractor ahead of time. You might also be able to cut costs by buying carpet at certain times of year when it’s less expensive. These periods include late December to mid-January and late spring to early summer.

Many doorways feature two door jambs. These are installed on both sides of a doorway to prevent the door from swinging too far. Door jambs usually stop the door at 180 degrees when closed.  A doorway floor transition sits between the door jambs on the floor, helping to create a safer and more aesthetically pleasing transition from one flooring type to the next.

Berber is a loop pile carpet known for its strength, durability, and distinct looped look. It can be made from a number of different carpet materials, including nylon and wool. However, Berber isn’t as soft as cut pile carpet, so it isn’t the best carpet for a bedroom (although it’s a good style of carpet for living rooms).

With that said, if you really like the look of Berber, you can still install it in your bedroom—it just might not be as comfortable on your feet as cut pile carpeting.

Yes, your kitchen flooring should extend under your dishwasher. It is essential for creating a level and stable surface for the appliance and preventing moisture from seeping into the subflooring, which is costly to repair. Working with a kitchen contractor will ensure the new flooring accounts for the height of the dishwasher so it sits under the countertop properly without any glaring gaps.
