"Aly's team did a fantastic job. They pulled weeds, cleaned up pathways, pruned our shrubs and trees. I got a real chance to look at there job, 3-4 weeks after they did it and realize that not only did they do what I needed, but the job they did on trimming our trees is the best job we've had in years. Definitely want them back."

"I recently hired GP Tree Services to remove a large tree from the front of my home, and I couldn’t be more impressed with their professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail. From the initial consultation to the final cleanup, their team was outstanding every step of the way. They arrived on time, assessed the job thoroughly, and explained the process clearly. The crew worked quickly and safely, ensuring that surrounding structures and landscaping were protected throughout the removal. Their equipment was top-notch, and their expertise was evident in how seamlessly they handled the job. What stood out the most was their commitment to leaving my property spotless. After the tree was removed, they cleaned up every bit of debris, making it look as if the tree had never been there! If you’re looking for a reliable and skilled tree service company, I highly recommend them. They exceeded my expectations in every way, and I will definitely call them again for any future tre"

"Bama's Tree Care did an excellent and thorough job on two of my trees. My tree overhangs the neighbor's yard. They were very careful to place plastic and 8x4 boards on the neighbor's new deck to protect the deck. Also placed the boards to protect my windows. The owner, Oscar, was calm, professional, and I would highly recommend hiring him. Good price, cleanup, and easy to work with."

"When we met for an estimate on Tuesday, I asked Pablo when he could schedule the job. He said in two weeks, but I really had to get it done by the end of this week. He said he would try to reschedule other job or put more people in it so that his team could make time for me, but he could not guarantee it till he knows for sure next day. Since I had to have an assurance, I started looking again and ended up hiring another A-rated service who could commit the schedule. I am giving 5 stars for Pablo's willingness to bend backwards to accommodate my request. I will definitely give him a call next time i need a tree service."

"Miabella Expert Tree Service did a fantastic job at clearing the dried fronds on my really tall palm tree. They initially came out to do an inspection of my tree, promptly sent me an electronic quote that day, and were able to come the next day. I had 3 different landscape contractors come to inspect my tree, and Miabella Experts was the most price competitive while also providing great service. The workers were really professional and even offered to clear my neighbor's yard since our palm fronds fell towards their side of the fence. They arrived on time, worked diligently, and left both my yard and my neighbors yard free of any tree debris. I'm left very happy with the service and will absolutely contact them again for future work."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Generally, you should prune around 20% of an apple tree’s growth—and never more than 30%. This means that if you have a severely overgrown tree, it can take a few seasons to prune it back enough to produce the healthiest fruit.

If you’re dealing with a newly planted or juvenile tree, hold off on pruning beyond the initial shaping. Wait at least a couple of seasons into fruit production since pruning can increase the number of water sprouts and unproductive foliage.

Any tree that needs to be pruned should be pruned to remove dead branches at least once a year. You may need to prune far more often if you’re trying to maintain a certain shape or to save a tree that suddenly becomes infected.

Generally speaking, you’ll want to avoid flush cuts, which are cuts made as extremely close to the trunk or main branch. These cuts can weaken your tree, lower its natural defense mechanisms, and even cause decay. You’ll also want to avoid tree topping, which is the total removal of the leader and upper main branches of a tree.

Most pros will advise against either of these methods, which is why hiring a pro is often the best choice when it comes to tree trimming.

The best way is to start controlling tree height long before it grows too large, via careful pruning through the years. But that’s not always possible. If a tree has become too high or too large, use selective pruning to remove the most troublesome branches, one by one, without topping the tree. Gently shaping a tree like this can, over time, correct problems. You can also find growth inhibitors to spray on a tree to stop it from growing too rapidly, but use these sparingly if at all.

If you don’t cut down a dead, dying, or diseased tree, it can become a nesting place for pests like mosquitos, bees, beetles, wasps, fly larvae, and more. Some pests will live in the tree, while others will feed off the decaying wood. Unhealthy trees are also more likely to fall over, potentially injuring people and causing damage to your property.
