"I’ve used Fluid Dynamics Plumbing several times, and each experience has been excellent. They may be new in town, but their team is made up of highly experienced plumbers. Their brand-new trucks and equipment show how invested they are in quality and reliability. Every technician I’ve met has been efficient, courteous, and professional. Their response time is outstanding, and their prices are very reasonable—especially for Silicon Valley. I highly recommend them for anyone needing dependable plumbing service."

"Jesus was awesome - not only was he the first to respond to my inquiry, he fit me in quickly after a weekend and did the best job of any plumber I have ever had service my condo. Not all plumbers do a thorough or ideal set up and Jesus corrected what was leaking and fixed prior issues. Personable, professional, and reasonably priced, I am definitely hiring him again for any future plumbing work!"

"I use Counsil for the quality of their work and trust them to do it to highest city inspection standards. I had to do two replacement sewer lines. Counsil plumbing did the digging, plumbing and cement work with same people; the other contractor did plumbing, subcontracted sleeving sewer line and subcontracted concrete work. Counsil left the house as he found it. The other contractor left trash, rebar and wood and never came back. Counsil used a price master and a detailed contract, the other contractor gave me verbal price which became opaque. I use Counsil when i need quality work that meets inspection specifications and am willing to pay for it."

"This was the first time I had used Angie's list to find a contractor. I was nervous not knowing whether I would get good service. I cannot say enough about Water Heater Masters. They were so professional and did an excellent job. They showed up on time, explained my options but didn't try to influence my decision. The workman was very neat, taking care to clean up some water spillage after draining my old water tank. I cannot say enough about how impressed I was at the service I got. And the price was very reasonable. A local contractor I called had quoted me twice the price for a new water heater installation. I have no hesitation in recommending this company."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

The standard size of a pipe for the main water line ranges between 3/4 inch to 1 inch in diameter, but ultimately, the size will depend on your household size and its square footage. Depending on the size of the property, the water line size can range upwards to 1.5” in diameter for a very large house nearing 10,000 sq. ft. Incorrect pipe sizing can lead to potential damages and leaks. To avoid incorrect sizing, consider getting help from a local plumbing professional who can help you choose the right size and material for your pipe.

Most people tend to use outdoor spigots more frequently in the summer. Watering plants, filling kiddie pools, having neighborhood water fights, and washing cars and pets are all outdoor activities people do when it's hot and sunny. The heat causes the pipes to expand, weakening the metal and creating cracks. The sudden spike in water use combined with this effect is why pipes burst often in the summer.

If you need to repair part of your plumbing, it will cost an average of $330. The cost of plumbing repairs is influenced by several factors, including the type of drain and the specific repair needed.

The signs of a bad mixing valve in a shower include water that’s scalding hot or freezing cold, a leak in your shower, a lack of hot water, and low water pressure. If you suspect there’s a problem with the mixing valve, call a pro to inspect your shower and replace the valve if necessary.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.
