"They were recommended by the plumber that found a leak in the toilet. They came out and removed the wet drywall and flooring and left 4 fans for 4 days. When they left a large hole in the floor remained along with the open sewer line. They said they would send a person out in a couple of days to go over the flooring. They didn't. I called to get the whole in my floor plunged up. It had been open for a week. They came and fixed it but left the sewer line open. It was open for two weeks with a bad smell and the fumes made us sick. I called the plumber out to see what the smell was. He said your sewer line is open and plugged it up. A total of 5 people came out and did nothing from Dry Star. Even the plumber called them to complain. To replace the floor and drywall took 2 and a half months. We used insurance on this and I had to keep telling them the insurance wasn't getting the information they said they sent. When I send a copy it was approved shortly after waiting for 3 weeks. Meanwhile they wouldn't move forward even after I said you left the sewer line open for 2 weeks making us sick. They didn't follow up and refused to do anything until I paid them. I never got an amount from to pay for about 6 weeks. I told them I received approval from insurance and let's get going. I could have sooner if they had told me an amount. After the work was finally completed. I said how are you going to compensate me for the delays and screw ups. They said they would deduct the bill for one hour of time from the plumber, I had sent a copy. I said you did nothing to speed this up and you should offer something to compensate for making us sick from the sewer gas. They refused. 10 weeks without a bathroom and allowing us to have dangerous sewer gas for over 2 weeks. Don't use this company they aren't interested in the customer even when they screw up."

Interior Trends Remodel & Design provides clients with premier full-service design and construction of kitchens, bathrooms, home offices, additions and all residential building needs. In providing these turnkey services, Interior Trends combines the talents of a seasoned licensed general contractor, a professional interior design team, and project management from start to finish to cover all your needs under one roof.

"After meeting with Kathy Nieto, we really hit it off. She offered ideas, adopted our ideas, and is great to work with. It was a real collaborative effort. When minor issues came up during the project, they were listened to and corrected. The team is incredibly responsive. In terms of budget, we did not want contractor grade, we wanted solid high/mid-range specifications. We made significant changes to our budget, primarily due to changes that we requested as we went, but even with adjustments along the way, we felt it was worth it. You get what you pay for! Nick and the field staff were fabulous. Their craftsmanship shows, they really pay attention to detail and have a great deal of pride in their work. The results exceeded our expectations! They listened extremely well and couldn’t be more helpful and so easy to work with. We highly recommend Interior Trends Remodel & Design and will certainly go back to them for future projects."

We have been building custom homes and performing all types of remodeling projects in Tucson since 1984. We have 2 employees and use subcontractors, but you deal directly with the owner. We are licensed by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, #259884, KB-02 Residential and Commercial General Contractor. We provide free estimates. We employ a 2-step estimating process: 1) We provide a free rough estimate based on the initial interview and site visit, and, if you find this estimate acceptable, 2) We provide a free firm price proposal based on the design documents and product selections. Prior to signing the firm price proposal and contract, we charge you nothing for the estimate and proposal process - you pay only for any outside direct costs such as third party designer or architect costs, if any, third party engineering costs, if any, and any 3rd party reproduction costs. We are now installing photovoltaic solar panels for some of our construction clients. It's gratifying to be producing electricity with no moving parts while shading a portion of your roof. We are a Tucson business and we buy solar panels and racking hardware built right here in Tucson. We do not ship our parts in from China. We look forward to serving you. We are totally committed to making sure that each and every client is happy with the service that they receive from Valley Development. Give us a call - the owner will answer the phone. :) Best Regards, Bob

Mr Electric of Tucson provides expert electrical services to residential and commercial customers in and near Tucson, Oro Valley, Marana, Sahuarita, Vail, and surrounding communities. The electricians at Mr Electric of Tucson have been background checked and trained to be true electrical service professionals. With free estimates, upfront pricing, and background-checked electricians, there are never any surprises with Mr Electric of Tucson. Mr. Electric of Tucson also enjoys supporting the community. We do this through the Ronald McDonald House, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, the Shyann Kindness Project, More Than a Bed, and several local churches. Our focus is on children and families.

"Absolute 5-star service from the Mr. Electric Service Professional Matthew Y. Called for a quote to replace three outlets, with new GFCI receptacles as the home built in 1963 was not wired with grounding wires on an outward facing wall. I share this context as material condition of the wiring, wall outlets and panel boxes are much more challenging to work with after ~ 60 years. Called Mr. Electric on 6/4, Matthew arrived and provided a quote on 6/5 – we approved the quote the morning of 6/6 and Matthew was out that afternoon to execute / complete the project. Couple key points: Matthew was an absolute professional, no ifs, ands or watts about it! Never felt upsold, he explained all of my options and clearly walked us through the pros and cons of each option. Matthew was patient and confident. For example, the faceplate screws on one outlet box were cut off and required a punch and to be drilled out….Matthew handled it like a pro and all three new outlets are level, work wonderfully and he conducted a thorough site cleanup – also very important, the quote was more than reasonable. Shout out to Mr. Electric and thank you Matthew for the great service."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

In addition to overseeing new home builds, construction managers work on large renovations and major remodels. For example, they may work with designers and oversee the construction of a finished basement, kitchen renovation, or a home addition. They may also oversee large-scale remodels, such as the update of a historic home. Construction managers step into small projects for more specific assistance, such as building budgets and compiling the team.

You technically can paint wires in a basement ceiling, but there are several important safety and code considerations. It's safe to paint non-metallic sheathed cable as long as the labeling remains visible. You can also paint low-voltage wires and conduit and junction boxes to help them blend into your basement.

However, you should not paint damaged or deteriorated wiring is a fire hazard because it poses a fire hazard. The same goes for painting over high-heat wires that connect to heat-generating appliances or systems. Be sure to avoid painting multiple coats onto any wires, as that traps heat and poses fire risks.

Generally, a wall can bow up to 30% of its thickness, or around 2.5 inches for an 8-inch-thick structure, before it becomes an urgent situation. If your basement wall bows more than 1 inch, it's time to have a basement inspection to determine if a repair is necessary, depending on the soil conditions and structural specifics. Walls nearing 4 inches of bowing will require significant repairs. More than 6 inches of bowing usually means the wall will need replacing.

Walkout basements are not generally included in a home’s square footage, although they may be if they meet certain conditions that depend on local regulations. A finished walkout basement used as a living space may be counted toward square footage in some locations as long as all codes for livable space are met.

The cost of finishing a basement is about $18,400 on average. As you can see, the framing portion of this project costs less, because you’re essentially just dealing with laying the foundation for a finished basement. The finishing portion of the project involves a lot more intricate work and design, as well as high-end materials.
