"I was helping a special needs person and she needed some emergency work done on her toilet. Joe was so kind to get someone right away to help her. I suspect Eric and Jerry gave up their lunch time to help someone in need. Special needs people do not know what to do for small problems they encounter. It is a blessing to know Joe and his team are willing to help. Many thanks to Joe, Eric, and Jerry. I know this lady will be a customer for life. I will also, when I need their services. I will be spreading the word among the special needs population. Thank You All for your kindness."

"They removed minimal tiles to repair damaged sub-floor due to a leaky toilet. The toilet was improperly installed by the previous owner and leaked every time it was flushed. They remove as few tiles, as necessary to inspect the plumbing, remove and replace the pipe and flange for the toilet, repaired the sub-floor (the joists were not damaged), re-tiled the floor, matched the grout and re-install the toilet. Then came back to seal the grout. I would definitely use this company again and highly recommend them. They were very professional, courteous, and clean, They left the bathroom looking like new.

"They were quick to respond and schedule, which was great, and even showed early. But they carried a water-filled toilet through the house, soaking the carpet and leaving a trail to the front door. They also did not recaulk around the newly installed toilet, which may not be typical - I?ve never had a toilet replaced before. Cost seems reasonable, but again, nothing to compare it to."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

If you decide to replace the toilet flapper yourself, the only cost will be buying the new flapper for around $5 to $17. You can also hire a plumber or handyperson to take on the job instead, in which case you’ll pay an hourly rate for labor plus the cost of parts. Handypersons charge $50 to $150 per hour, while plumbers cost $45 to $200 per hour. This repair might take less than an hour for your pro, but note that many providers have a minimum rate for a house call.

It is safe to flush the toilet even if the pipes are frozen, and this may even help clear out the pipes. But if the supply line is frozen, the toilet won’t refill itself until it’s thawed out. You can still flush by pouring water into the tank to refill it.

The average cost to hire a plumber is typically between $45 and $200 per hour, with a common average rate around $125 per hour. This cost can vary based on your location, the plumber's experience, and the complexity of the job. Rates are often broken down by experience level: an apprentice may charge $45 to $90 an hour, a journeyman $60 to $110 an hour, and a master plumber $80 to $200 an hour. While hourly rates are standard, some plumbers may charge a flat fee for routine projects or offer project-based pricing. It's also common for plumbers to charge a minimum service or trip fee. For reference, some typical flat-rate costs for common jobs include: drain unclogging ($220), leaky faucet repair ($270), burst pipe repair ($400), toilet repair ($300), and water heater repair ($600). Note that these rates are for standard service hours; emergency, holiday, and after-hours calls will cost significantly more.

You can tell if your toilet fill valve is full by removing the lid and taking a look. When you flush the toilet, the float is at the bottom of the tank, the water empties, and the fill valve opens. The float rises to the top as the tank fills again with water. When the float rises to the right level, the fill valve closes; if the valve is too high, your toilet may only partially flush, requiring you to adjust the float.

Yes, you’ll need to replace your toilet’s wax seal any time you move the toilet. This is because movement of the toilet will break the seal, rendering the remaining wax useless. Thankfully, replacing a wax seal is fairly easy, and the seal itself only costs $2 to $10 at most home improvement stores.

When replacing a wax seal you typically also have to replace the closet bolts that secure the toilet to the flange. These are usually about 2.5" - 3" long and have to be cut once the toilet is secure. Cutting them usually makes them too short to reuse.
