Emergency services offered

"I highly recommend Plugged In Electric to anyone needing electric work/repair. You can hire them with confidence in a job well done, being on time, and charging a reasonable cost. Plugged In Electric not only met my immediate needs but also made recommendations for future improvements. In addition, I had a sagging electrical line feeding my house. The technician contacted TEP directly to fix this, TEP came out the same day and fixed it. Without the technician's knowledge of who to contact at TEP, I was at loss as to how to get this safety issue that I'd had for 15 years fixed. I didn't even know this is a service TEP provided for free! Cudos to Plugged In Electric."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For electrical projects in Tucson, select THWN-2 wiring for heat resistance, UV-protected conduit to withstand strong sunlight, and corrosion-resistant panels for dust storms. Surge protectors are crucial during monsoon season, while GFCI outlets are recommended for outdoor and kitchen areas. Opt for energy-efficient LED lighting and consider solar-ready components to handle Tucson’s intense sun and frequent power fluctuations.

Helpful?

Tucson homes built before 1960, especially those with original or outdated wiring, often need electrical upgrades. Signs like frequent breaker trips, flickering lights during monsoon storms, warm outlets, or missing GFCI outlets indicate a need for improvements. If your home lacks modern features like EV charging or has high energy bills, it’s a strong candidate for updated electrical systems.

Helpful?

In Tucson, the timeline for electrical projects varies by complexity. Upgrading an electrical panel typically takes 4–8 hours, while whole-house rewiring may require 3–7 days, especially in older adobe or block homes. Simple jobs like installing outlets or switches are often done in 1–2 hours. Factors such as permit approval, weather delays, and hidden issues in older wiring can impact project duration.

Helpful?

In Tucson, combining electrical work with projects like HVAC upgrades, solar panel installation, or kitchen remodeling can reduce disruption and streamline the permit process. Upgrading your panel during a remodel or when adding an EV charger is efficient. Scheduling major work during cooler months and coordinating inspections can help minimize downtime and maximize the value of your home improvements.

Helpful?

Tucson’s desert climate makes regular electrical maintenance essential. Schedule annual inspections, clean outdoor panels and fixtures to remove dust, and test GFCI outlets monthly. After monsoon season, check surge protectors for any moisture or damage. Trim vegetation away from exterior panels, and monitor your home’s energy usage for sudden spikes. Homes over 20 years old benefit from yearly professional electrical assessments.
