"Andy Grandillas came highly recommended to me through an individual in the business. . There are so many good things to say about Andy: his professionalism, his experience, his timeliness, knowledge of his craft and his easy going demeanor speak volumes. He promptly responded to my request for an estimate, and was thorough in his explanation of the project and costs from beginning to end. Any changes or modifications were discussed thoroughly, and I was kept advised as to all progress to completion. I would not hesitate to utilize the services of Andy Grandillas in the future. I highly recommend Andy to anyone who is in need of a quality, professional tile installation."

"Cesar came to give us an estimate for the flooring and shower.  It seemed very reasonable so we scheduled him to start work as soon as we closed on the house.  Since we had to return to another state to sell that house, and no personal items were in the house, we provided a key for him to work around another contractor.  He had provided a sketch of what the shower would look like with and alcove for shampoos, and would send us pictures of his progress.  He brought by samples of the ceramic tile he thought we would like and made the suggestion of placing the floor tile in a diamond design to contrast with the square design of tile in the center of the house.  The end result was beautiful.  All his or his assistants work was very good.  They would clean the areas up before leaving.  They finished the flooring before we returned, and finished the shower a week later (since we had not expected to sell our other house so quickly and returned sooner than expected).  Once our kitchen was almost completed, his worker came the next day to put up the backsplash, the accent and the floor board tile around 3/4 of the island.  He and his workers were very polite and listened to what we wanted, even when we decided to change or add work to be done before that part of it  was actually started, and they adjusted wonderfully.  We were extremely pleased with all the work accomplished by them.

"I can't say enough good about Lou Aldrich and his crew. From removing my old tile and flooring and installing our new tile and while working around 4 people living in the home and being considerate of their needs and schedules. Lou and his crew were on time the entire time of the project and made sure at quitting time they were cleaned up and done. He was very good at explaining the process and was willing to listen and answer any of our questions. I feel that his price was very reasonable and the quality of work was excellent. I would not hesitant to use his company again and I would recommend them to anyone looking to take on this type of project. Even more so if having this done with minimum inconvenience."

"We found Casa Decor through Angie s List, and they did an amazing job on installing the tile for our kitchen backsplash. We worked out the details with Ruben, and then Javier came and did the actual install. He was really careful and did a wonderful job, and best of all, he finished everything in one day. The other two companies we looked at estimated 2-3 days to do the same work. Ruben stopped by to check up on the project and make sure everything was on track. We re really pleased with our experience."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

You have creative freedom when it comes to your tile trim. If, however, you are considering skipping tile trim, please think twice about that. It is good practice to install tile trim, whether on walls or flooring. Think, too, about the aesthetic you are going for and choose a trim type and color that will help enhance the space.

Add a T-shaped spacer to each corner of a tile when placing it. You’ll want to nudge the tiles closer together so the spacers are touching each corner. When you’re done installing your tile, you can remove each spacer, wash them, and use them for your next project.

Tile floor installation usually takes about 16 hours of active work along with a couple of days of drying time between tile and grout applications.

The amount of time it takes your installer will depend on many factors, including the square footage of the space, the tile material type, and if they need to make intricate tile cuts.

The best trowel for penny tile is a 3/16-inch-by-5/32-inch V-notch trowel. Because of the small size of the penny tile, you want a trowel with small notches that can lay a thin layer of mortar on the surface you’re tiling. If the notches are too wide, you risk applying too thick of a layer of mortar, and it can squeeze out between the penny tiles.

Yes. You can tile over tile if the old tile is in good shape, but this will also create a thicker floor. As a result, you may have to remove and readjust baseboards and other room trimmings and potentially even raise door heights to work with the higher floors. In most projects, it’s best to remove the old tile before installing a new tile floor.
