"I am thrilled to share my experience with Phelps Development as our general contractor. They executed a magnificent job on our project, demonstrating professionalism from start to finish. Their organization and cleanliness were top-notch, creating a seamless work environment. Communication was key throughout the process; I received detailed information, including timelines, which they consistently met. What impressed me most was their flexibility in accommodating changes along the way, working collaboratively with us to make adjustments as needed. The results truly speak for themselves, as our home has received numerous compliments from family and friends. I highly recommend Phelps Development for their exceptional work and dedication to quality."

"I have had the opportunity to work with JC builders on a few different project's and There work is through and clean. They are qualified contractors and they do an excellent job from the framing to the drywall and paint. They did the remodel in my previous home which was a model home and I couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out. They built a beautiful outdoor wood deck for my father in law a few months ago complete with wood burning and stain. Thank you JC Builders you guys are the best!"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.

Framing is the shell of the house. It includes several steps, including studs, plumbing, and electricity. A professional will ensure the wall frame is secured for the house’s structural integrity.

Framing prices change depending on the material and whether the wall is load-bearing. Most contractors use wood to frame a home, but metal is another popular choice.

Accurate measurements, sturdy materials, and seamless integration with other structures.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

Professionals charge between $60 and $95 per hour to install ornamental porch columns. The amount of time they need varies based on the condition of the porch, whether they need to remove old columns, and if there is any damage to your porch's structure. This cost can increase if more issues come up during the installation process.
