"The service by the movers themselves was satisfactory.  I do however take issue with the fact that I was charged an additional 10% service charge after I purchased the big deal.  The only time that the service charge was brought up was when I called to scheduled the appointment and after I had already purchased the big deal through Angie's List.  There was no mention of this charge anywhere in the fine print or details of the deal. I called to try to talk to someone about this extra surcharge that they call "wear and tear of their trucks" and was transferred to a gentleman named Charles (I am assuming he is the owner). He immediately launched into a tirade about customers doing this to him all the time and when I tried to explain that when I purchased the deal there were no disclaimers about this extra charge, he lost it.  I then asked, since I didn't use the entire time (3hrs) that I paid for if that service charge could be waived. (After all he is still ahead in the money game) -  He then became extremely belligerent,  rude and yelled at me that he was sick and tired of customers doing this to him and then refused to waive the fee. Since I was not at home my daughter was forced to pay the fee in cash before they would leave. It's been a long time since I dealt with a company representative that just was so totally unreasonable and treated their customer (ex-customer now) in such a manner.  Wow - it's a shame too because everyone else I dealt with were polite and respectful... He needs to take some lessons from his employees!

UPDATE TO THE RESPONSE BY COMPANY:  Yes, you told me about the extra charge but AFTER I had already paid for the service - that is my complaint.  Evidently by your reaction there have been many other customers that have mentioned this same complaint to you- seems as if that  surcharge is problematic for your company, might want to rethink how you approach that cost.  You need to go back and read the emails you send out, NO WHERE does it state anything about an extra 10% surcharge, it only lists the charges if we go over the 3 hours. This was even verified by Angie's List themselves. Telling my daughter about the extra charge doesn't hold much weight as she didn't know anything about the details, I was the one that ordered the service plus Brandon did not say anything about it until it was time to collect it. Your business certainly didn't lose any money, as a matter of fact, since I only used 2 hours of the 3 that I paid for,  you should have been a little ahead.  You made a comment to Angie's List that I got a good deal- indicating that I should be grateful for the great deal you provided me. Yes, it was a good deal but you are the one that put the deal on Angie's List in the first place with the price - So if you think that terrific "Big Deal" was a loss to your business, I suggest you don't put it on there again.  As far as being unhappy with the last moving company - you're trying to make it sound as if I am an unhappy customer anyway just by bringing that up in this conversation - far from it. They damaged some of the furniture - you would be not very happy either if someone damaged your property. So that has nothing to do with this issue.   In the future make sure you disclose everything before someone purchases your service and you'll find you won't have customers "doing this all the time to you".....  I certainly have learned a valuable lesson as well !!"

"JDS sent a un-licensed repairman (with his girlfriend) to dig a hole in driveway to access the leak. The repair to the main water pipe was completed. Job clean-up was very sloppy. Owner of JDS arrived two days later to view the repair job and collected the check. Unfornutaley, the leak was not at the site JDS "repaired" but 4 feet further from JDS actual repair site. Another company was called to repair the problem which cost an aditional $267.

Garbage Collection questions, answered by experts

No, you do not need a garbage disposal to have a dishwasher. A dishwasher will work without one, and while it's rare to see a home with a dishwasher that doesn't have a disposal, it is possible. The two appliances pair well and are often installed together because a disposal simplifies meal cleanup.

However, your dishwasher should not be used as a replacement for a garbage disposal. Subjecting it to continuous food leftovers can lead to major clogs. If you choose not to install a garbage disposal, you should thoroughly rinse your plates or scrape excess food into the trash or a compost pile before loading them into the dishwasher to prevent plumbing issues.

While the drain connection for a garbage disposal is nearly universal and fits standard sink drain holes of 3 1/2 to 4 inches, the size of the disposal unit itself is not. You must have enough space in the cabinet underneath your sink to accommodate the disposal's housing. A larger model may not fit in a compact cabinet or if the existing plumbing is arranged in an unusual way. Before buying a new garbage disposal, measure the available space under your sink. If you are replacing an old unit, it's often easiest to choose a new model of a similar size.

In some cases, it’s more cost-effective in the long run to replace a garbage disposal, but it depends on the specific issue you’re having and the age of your disposal. You should ask a garbage disposal repair tech for a quote to repair your appliance and then see if it would be more worthwhile to replace it. Additionally, garbage disposals last for around 15 years, so if you know your appliance is reaching that age, it’s likely better to pay for a new garbage disposal rather than sink money into repairs.

The main issue with garbage disposals is clogging. This can mean a clogging of the pipes that expel the food along with water, or a clogging of the mechanical parts themselves. The problem lies in the solution because you can’t easily see clogs if they’re inside the system, and reaching in to dislodge stuck items is a risky proposal. Call a pro and ask what they would do, but if you can’t see the clog easily, and running the unit won’t free it, you need to let a professional handle the fix.

These appliances certainly increase the number of things allowed down the drain, but they’re not foolproof. There are several items you shouldn’t put in your garbage disposal, according to manufacturers and technicians. Don’t put coffee grounds down the drain. The same goes for eggshells, potato peels, hard foods, onion skins, and any dry, expandable food. Most importantly, never put grease or oils down the drain.
