"I called Zoom Drain for a clogged shower drain that just wouldn’t clear no matter what I tried. They came out the same day, arrived right on time, and were incredibly professional. The tech explained exactly what was causing the problem, fixed it quickly, and even cleaned up the work area before leaving. My shower drains perfectly now! I’ll definitely call them again for any plumbing issues."

"I had a toilet drain pipe moved and closet flange installed. Overall, I am content with the work performed with a few exceptions: 1) closet flange is a touch low for the tile that was subsequently installed around it. The wax ring will more than make up for this difference, but it is worthy of note 2) the concrete work was rough-finished. Overall, this is not that big of a deal, but we did have to scrape some of the rougher parts to ensure a decent base for the installed tile. I must admit some difficulty with the yes answer to would you recommend them... The price was extremely competitive and our plumber, Walter, was very professional during the consult. After scheduling the job, the follow up was severely lacking. Communication is an important skill and the Plumbing Medics group would benefit from revisiting its value. We had an appointment that was missed... I am in the service industry and can appreciate that things come up. I extended them the benefit of the doubt and waited almost 1 1/2 hours before calling to find out what happened. When I did call, there was a real lack of awareness as to the techs current status and expected ETA. Multiple follow-up calls produced similar responses... he is just finishing up he is almost done and will be dispatching to you soon. Eventually, we spoke with Walter directly and he would indicate the job was delayed because he was awaiting inspection. As it got closer to end of day, it became clear that we were not getting the service appointment that day. our tech advised that he would work with dispatch and ensure we were his first appointment the following day and that he would follow up with us, yet that afternoon, to confirm. When this did not happen, we ultimately spoke with a manager, Kellen. When the language used in that all indicated that we were not going to be the first appointment the following day, I began to doubt my decisions to select PM for this job and to pay 50% of the job upfront. Kellen seemed reluctant to commit to a scheduled follow up: If I have not heard from you by ___ when should I follow up. Finally, he would indicated that he a couple meetings in the morning and would follow up by 09:00. To Kellens credit, he honored that commitment and really took charge of communication the following day. Walter did not make a first thing appointment, was significantly delayed the second day as well but ultimately showed up and completed the job."

"Due to water damage a restoration company had to come out and rip out the vanity in the master bedroom. The tech from Rocky Mountain Restoration let me know that there was a leak in the remaining plumbing and advised me to call the plumber to rectify the situation. I had Bumble Bee Plumbing on speed dial because they had stopped the leak behind the wall and re-routed my pipes when the disaster struck. This was a secondary leak not related to the first leak last week but instead due to the vanity being demolished. So I had full confidence that they could help me again. I called Bumble Bee and as usual Sheraya was a delight on the phone. She is not only professional and competent but also a source of positivity when things are going down the drain (pun intended). She sent out Mike, my go to guy, and he came right out and installed a shut off valve and an angle stop. And because I had joined the membership club last week I was not charged a service fee and even got 10% off! Sweet! Membership club is worth its weight in gold if you happen to have pipes in your house. Bumble Bee saved the day once again! Professional, competent, efficient, polite and friendly! You almost look forward to a plumbing crisis with this company in town! And nobody bribed me to write this. I really am this enthusiastic about this company. I am very grateful that they are reliable and competent because having a MAJOR plumbing disaster is stressful. So having a reliable plumber is one less thing I have to stress about. I recommend them with out any hesitation."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Some experts estimate that descaling your cast iron pipes can extend their lifetime by upwards of 50 years, although there’s not a lot of research to prove it. But we do know that without proper maintenance, cast iron pipes can quickly rust—leading to more expensive issues like burst pipes or main line clogs.

To unclog a plumbing vent, you first need to locate it. Look at your home's roofline. The plumbing vent will be a vertical pipe sticking straight up from the roof. Since this pipe runs all the way to the main drain underneath your house, you should also be able to find it in the attic.

An AC drip pan may stop draining if there’s a clog where the drip pan connects to the drain line. Clogs can form from a lack of cleaning or from rust or corrosion buildup. Cleaning the drip pan at least once per month lowers the chances of debris clogging the drain line.

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.

French drains may fail when they become clogged with soil granules that slip through the pores of the landscaping fabric and through the holes in the pipe.

Over time, this debris can build up inside the pipe and prevent water flow. To prevent this failure from happening, regularly flush out your French drain and keep debris away from the inlet grate.
