"The price was where I estimated it and finished on time. The crew was very detailed and professional. The foreman communicated very promptly. Dennis managed all our expectations, timing, and questions perfectly. Best contractor I've hired out of the 3 remodeling projects I've done and will be the only contractor going forward on the future remodeling projects."

"Albert and his crew were great to work with. He was prompt with responding to calls or texts and always willing to go over our ideas and wishes. We were so pleased with Albert's work that a few years after we finished our custom home, we had Albert enclose our screened porch and make a sunroom, which we love. Highly recommend Albert Salinas and Quality Builders!"

"We are very pleased with the work that was completed by Randy Johnson and his brothers Construction Company. When needed he called back right away. I have no complaints. We had drywall work, paint, carpet, vanities installed, ceilings scraped, faucets installed. The workers were friendly and thorough. Even found a water leak and rotted lumber in the wall, Johnson Brothers took care of it without delay. And didn’t charge more for the repair, thankful for this company. I would call on them again if needed. I would recommend them again and again. I didn’t have to find subcontractors, they were very efficient."

"This is a responsible company full of people with big hearts and compassion. Not only did they complete the job in a very timely manner, they took the time to think out the project and not leave any important details overlooked. Fine craftsmen, educated in all areas of the work needed done. Left the area cleaner than when they arrived. Pricing and billing was beyond fair. The price I quote was just an in the door and exceptionally long discussion as I asked so many questions and received through answers."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can hang picture frames, shelves, and other items on Trusscore panels. For lightweight items (less than 30 pounds), the company recommends using adhesive strips rather than nails or screws. However, you’ll need to secure heavier objects to a stud in the wall. In these situations, Trusscore recommends cutting away the panel material and fastening the object to the stud with metal hardware.

Yes, ceiling joists are typically load-bearing. However, their primary function is to support the weight of the ceiling and loads applied to it, like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. They can also help support the roof, especially if they’re part of truss systems. Remember, the load-bearing capacity of ceiling joists depends on the material, size, and space between them.

If the bowing basement wall is less than 2 inches, steel or carbon fiber straps are the best solution. For bowing that is more than 2 inches, wall anchors are the most effective. A contractor can help you decide the best method of repair for your home's foundation and also address the root cause of the trouble.

It’s best to use two screws to secure deck boards into every joist. Securing the boards to every joist makes the deck more structurally sound, while using two screws on the outer sides of the boards can help prevent warping and cupping.

Yes, a 2x6 should hold a porch swing and safely support the load. A smaller joist runs the risk of it not offering enough support for the swing. If you have a joist smaller than 2x6, add additional bolstering support.
