"Arrived promptly this morning after I called after 5:30 PM yesterday.  Called on way over so I would know when he would arrive.  Went right to work.  Tested all and examined all the wall receptacles.  Identified all the things that needed replacement.  Don't have any idea if the cost was reasonable.   The cost was $211.46.  I feel he saved my life and property to keep it from burning down the house.

Knob and tube wiring is old, and its casing is brittle. This means that it's possible to receive a dangerous electrical shock if you touch a live wire and essentially become an electrical pathway. Carefully insert the tip of a flat screwdriver into the rectangular hole beneath the wire. Hold the outlet in the palm of your other hand. Pull out the wire as you apply pressure with the screwdriver.
