"This whole process was a nightmare from the start. The first meeting with the salesman was July 15 2024 when he did our estimates. We told him we were on a tight schedule since I work in the Ag industry and fall was fast approaching. We needed the windows installed before harvest started and before it got cold out. The salesman told us that would be no problem getting the windows and getting them installed when we needed them installed. The windows took longer then he told us to get made. He told us 2-3 weeks to get them made and would be installed as soon as they were done. Was about a month and a half before they got done. So we are in September now waiting on the install. It took the install crew 3 different trips out to finally complete the installation. They were going to leave the outside of the windows uncaulked to seal them up from the weather until I complained. Finally had to talk to the owner of this store since the Lafayette IN office was giving me the run around. Here it is November 5 and I'm still waiting on my invoice to pay my bill. The owner of this franchise would only give me $500 off my bill for this months long nightmare. We had another estimate from contractors we used before and their windows were $5000 less, for the same windows, but they were honest about their lead time for installation and it would have been later then our salesman promised for install. Turns out we could have been done with everything by now if we went with the other company, had much better installation process, and saved $5000. Will never buy anything from Window World again. They aren't truthful about manufacturing lead times or installation lead times. They first told us they were 3 weeks out on the installations after the windows were ready. I had to call and complain to get them put in sooner. Terrible company to deal with and will never recommend to anyone."

"Did not have a good experience with Lowes flooring installation. They contract out the installation and our installation group did not have supervision and did not properly install plastic barriers to minimize dust impact of demo dust from pulling up old floor. We expected some dust but we ended up with a layer of heavy dust throughout our entire first floor. We had to bring in a cleaning crew the next day to simply get back to baseline and Lowes customer service was marginal at best. Would never contract with Lowes again for this type of project. Disappointing."

31 EMPLOYEES. NO SUBS. CHARGES $89.50 FLAT RATE FOR RESIDENTIAL, $66.50 PER HOUR FOR COMMERCIAL & $134.50 PER HOUR FOR OVERTIME. $23 TRAVEL CHARGE INCLUDED IN COST. $134.50 EXTRA FOR EMERGENCY SERVICE. ASK ABOUT ANGIE'S LIST DISCOUNT. ADDITIONAL CONTACT: DAVID SATERS.

"We would definitely hire them again. The only 'negative' about the experience -- and this is minor in the scheme of the whole process -- is that we visited their 'showroom' to start the project. The gentleman we spoke with there wasn't completely knowledgeable; the receptionist answered many of our questions, however. We were told that 'Angela' was at the county fair but that she would call and set up an appointment to come to our home. After several days, she had not called. However, I texted her. She immediately responded, set up the appointment, came to our home within just a couple of days, and was awesome! She ordered exactly what we needed, answered all of our questions, and told us the door would be in within 2-3 weeks. It arrived after just a couple of weeks. An appointment was scheduled for the install within a few days. 'Brett' did the install -- and did an awesome job! He was professional, pleasant, careful, detail-minded, and ensured that we were happy with his install. (Unusual in the 'trades' service industry, they were always on time!) Regarding the door itself ... They were able to match -- very closely -- the color we needed with a stock color .... that never needs painting! The door brand is 'Clopay.' We opted for the 'Intellicore' insulation technology and upgraded to heavy-duty hardware. The $1,105 price included complete installation and haul-away of our old door. Very happy we went with Midwest for this project -- and would definitely use them again!"

"worked pretty quick on it and it turned out okay.. Overall they did a great job. The only thing that bothered me was the selection on the payment. When we had a problem, they came to check for it and I'm pretty pleased with their service."

"After not getting a return call at first when I tried to schedule an appointment, they were very helpful. When I followed up friday morning to check on an appointment they said someone would be there within the hour - which was fantastic. The garage door had some damage to the lower panel and had come off the tracks and was lopsided. They got the garage door working again in no time and had me a quote for replacing the lower panel about 30 minutes after the technician left. It was a fantastic experience despite the hiccup at the beginning. I have already scheduled them to come out and replace the lower panel."

Garage Doors questions, answered by experts

A carriage house combines garage or storage space with living space, usually in two stories, while a garage generally does not offer any living space. Carriage houses are built with plumbing, insulation, and heating and cooling systems, which are usually features not found in traditional garages. Building codes and insurance requirements greatly differ between the two types of structures, and may make it difficult to convert a garage to a carriage house.

It’s not safe to install a pet door on your garage door. Garage doors that tilt upward can roll up with your dog inside the door without you realizing it, making them dangerous and potentially deadly. Most dog doors also won’t fit on traditional garage doors, as they would need to span the panels, compromising the door’s stability.

With the exception of small, lightweight torsion-spring garage doors, which can operate with one spring, most garage doors require two springs to work properly. Garage doors with extension springs always require two springs—if one extension spring is broken or otherwise failing, the garage door may open unevenly and could pose a hazard if the remaining spring fails.

Garage door sensors work by using infrared beams to detect objects in the door’s path. One sensor sends a beam while the other receives it. When the beam is broken—say, by your car or anything else—the sensors signal the door to stop or reverse. It’s all about safety and making sure nothing gets trapped under the door. If they’re misaligned, the beam doesn’t connect, and the garage door might stay open or close regardless of obstructions.

Since garage door torsion springs have tightly wound coils under massive tension, they can cause serious injury while attempting to service them. A broken spring can also cause the garage to close rapidly, causing injuries. That’s why any adjustments or replacements of a torsion spring should only be conducted by a trained professional.

Extension springs are just as dangerous as torsion springs—especially when they break. These springs can become projectiles and may cause serious injury or property damage.
