Arch Electric is the leading photovoltaic (solar energy) company in Wisconsin. We provide design, installation, system monitoring, education, and financing for renewable energy projects throughout the Midwest. Our team is recognized as one of the finest and most experienced group of renewable energy professionals in the area. We are also very experienced in large and complicated industrial wiring projects. If you have complex manufacturing equipment, we are very capable of doing the job right the first time.

"My solar panels are up, and I'm happy to say I have gotten a credit on my utility bill because of the surplus power generated. Arch Electric took care of all the paperwork and permitting, and the process was rather simple for me. Their sales reps and installers were excellent communicators, and I am happy with how the installation turned out."

"I would not recommend this company at all and wished I had read other people's comments before I did. At first Greg the owner was great with having 800 free quote and being able to complete the work the very next week after I called. The following Monday, I called Greg and he said Friday would work which he did show up to around 3PM because he had a busy morning. He was able to put in a light switch in my living room but did not put in a light fixture because I did not have a complete light fixture, which I had sent a picture to him before he came to tell him that I wanted a specific one that I had put in) he therefore left one of his yellow working light bulbs and told me he would go to the store to get the light fixture part that would fit and put it in the very next morning. However, before he left he checked the wiring in the bathroom to put in an outlet and exhaust fan and said that it would probably be more expensive than he quoted me. I was alright with the increase as long as it was done correctly. He then left with the wires exposed in my bathroom because he took the light switch off and said he would not be able to put it back on without getting a shrink tool since the wires were so crammed in. He never came back no matter how many times he said he was going to and after I had given him $400 cash, he only wanted hard cash. I am still trying to get my light cover which I lent him to measure the light fixture he was going to buy. Again do not do business with him!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For electrical projects in Waukesha, use copper wiring for residential circuits, as recommended by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. Select GFCI and AFCI outlets for code compliance and enhanced safety. Opt for weather-resistant PVC conduit outdoors and ensure all materials meet current WI electrical codes. Proper labeling and grounding are essential for passing inspections and maintaining long-term system reliability.

Helpful?

In Waukesha, the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services recommends annual inspections to check for outdated wiring, tripped breakers, and GFCI outlet performance. Upgrading older fuse boxes to modern circuit breaker panels improves both safety and efficiency. Regular maintenance, including tightening connections and verifying proper labeling, helps prevent electrical hazards and ensures your system remains up to code.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Waukesha often overlook permit requirements, use incorrect wire gauges, or neglect proper grounding—leading to safety risks and failed inspections. According to the City of Waukesha Building Department, common errors include overloading circuits and improper installation of GFCI outlets. To avoid issues, always follow local code, use #12 AWG wire for 20-amp circuits, and schedule required inspections for every project.

Helpful?

DIY electrical work in Waukesha can save on labor costs and offer learning opportunities, but risks include code violations, failed inspections, and safety hazards. The City of Waukesha Building Department requires permits and inspections for most projects, which can be challenging for non-professionals. Hiring a licensed electrician ensures compliance with local codes, professional workmanship, and peace of mind, though it may involve higher upfront costs.

Helpful?

In Waukesha, most electrical projects—such as new wiring, panel upgrades, or service changes—require an electrical permit from the City of Waukesha Building Department. According to the Building Inspection Division, you must submit detailed plans, pay permit fees based on project scope, and schedule inspections. Specialized work, like solar installations or fire alarm systems, may require additional permits or approvals from local authorities.
