The difference is in the details. I assess problems and I find solutions or I don't take the job. If I can't solve the problem, I'll tell you. My background in energy efficiency is important for roofing, windows, siding and insulation. I'm the only guy around that does gutters and has flood water management experience and that has saved some of my customers thousands in costly basement repair work. My ventilation certification helps to minimize ice dams and can reduce your summer cooling bills. I'm happy to share my insight with my customers. Give us a call to set up an appointment.

"My A/C stopped working at the beginning of a streak of hot weather. I called Seider when they opened at 7:30AM. She took my information and told me they wouldn’t be able to make it until after 5PM as they were fully booked for the day. Also was told after hours rates would apply. At that point I was just happy to know someone would be coming. Especially since it was also the day before a holiday. Not much more than an hour later I got a call from Brandon, a Seider technician. He said he was about 10:minutes away and would it be okay for him to come now. That was more than fine with me. He arrived a short time later. We greeted one another and headed to the backyard where the unit is. He told me he was pretty certain that he knew what the problem was as he was familiar with the model that we have. And, he was right. He removed the failed part. Showed it to me and explained the problem. He retrieved a new one from his truck and installed it. He asked me to turn the air on. I was able to do that with my phone. And, viola! The compressor started right up and continued to run. Before Brandon arrived and replaced the part it would start but then stop after a few seconds. It’s now been about 10 days and the system continues to work like a champ. Thank you Brandon and Seider. It’s getting to be time to replace my furnace and Seider is at the top of the list for that work!"

"I had a Carrier furnace and Air conditioner installed in 2014 with a touchscreen thermostat by New Berlin Heating & Cooling. Now for the 2nd time, I am needing a new touchscreen thermostat due to the touchscreen failing. The 1st replacement was in 2016 due to failure of the same part. However, to get the thermostat replaced under warranty they want money for a service call and I rarely use the **** thing because I can use my phone to adjust the settings so for it to break this often is unacceptable. Plus, the thermostat really should last longer than 2-2.5 years. Working with New Berlin Heating & Air Conditioning the customer service has been poor to say the least. When I called to have the thermostat replaced for the 2nd time, I was informed that it cost $93.98 for a service call so I told them not to come because I thought I could have another company to replace it under warrantee. After all, why should I keep paying the same company to fix the same problem. Doesn’t it make sense to hire someone else? Unfortunately, because they installed the furnace my only choice was to have them fix it due to the warrantee. So I called them back to have them come replace the thermostat and was told that there was no $93.98 service fee which was wonderful news. However, about 1 hour later I received a call from them telling me that the service man was on his way and that there was actually an $93.98 service fee. I explained to them that I was told there was no service fee, but it was their mistake and they were sorry. However, if I wanted this thermostat replaced under warrantee, by them, I had to pay the $93.98 service fee which left me feeling furious, so I told them not to come at all and I was going to figure something else out. Well the only solution to this thermostat issue is to pay $93.98 for a service fee to have the thermostat replaced under warrantee. The furnace, AC unit and thermostat communicate with each other so they all have be as one. Begrudgingly, I accepted the fact that I would have to pay $93.98 to have the thermostat replaced and scheduled the service appointment for November 29th at 9:00 am. So on this day my wife agreed to go into work later than usual due to the service appointment. Well at 10:30 am she calls me and reports that they still have not shown up and I call them to see what is happening. Well a guy there named Mike ordered my appointment canceled because I refused to speak with him regarding why I left a negative review about this issue. If they are not going to waive the service fee to fix the same problem again, what is there to say. I most certainly will not leave a positive review for a failing product or awful customer service both of which I experienced thus far. Then when you think this can’t get much worse, well it does, because, they never called me to make me aware that they cancelled the appointment so my wife ends up missing 1/2 day of work due to their spitefulness. And proceed to go even further, with placing a “Do Not Service” on my account to prevent me from obtaining warrantee work from them. Subsequently, it wasn’t until I told them that if they failed to honor the written warrantee “I would sue them for breech of contract” did they agree to send a service technician to fix it. So a very nice service technician did show up at 11:30 am to replace the thermostat which I do appreciate. Unfortunately, we still had to pay the $93.98 service fee, in addition to my wife’s lost wages due to their vindictiveness. In conclusion, when I decided to spend $9,281.00 on a new air conditioner and furnace I honestly thought that not only Carrier, but New Berlin Heating & Cooling would stand behind the product that I was purchasing. Well truth be told, I will not recommended either New Berlin Heating & Cooling or Carrier to anyone due this extremely poor customer service that I have received relating to this inadequate thermostat design. I just hope that my thermostat, furnace, or air conditioner doesn’t break again under warrantee so that I don’t have to deal with New Berlin Heating & Cooling. Finally, it is my hope by writing this review you won’t have to either because there are a lot of better choices in which to choose from when needing heating and cooling services."

Full service HVAC contractor. Add on replacement, new construction, ventilation, indoor air quality and custom sheet metal work. Primary brands are Carrier, Comfortmaker, Ruud, Buderus, Triangle Tube, Aprilaire, and Honeywell.

"The initial installation went fine - but then we noticed that our bathroom vents had Tyvek paper covering the exhaust screens at the roof - so they had to come back to remove that. It was restricting air flow making the bathroom vents not function properly. Another thing they didn't do when they installed the furnace and ductwork was they did not cushion the vents so simply walking upstairs above where the ductwork was located made a screechy metal on metal sound. They had to come back to install rubber cushioning material and that eliminated that issue. Now, the new cooing season is upon us. We called another time because the A-Coil inside the furnace got completely frozen solid in spite of our changing our furnace filter constantly. Then they had to come back again because the blower wasn't functioning properly, they replaced a part. That's working again. So since those last site visits, the plenum has been covered with condensation and we get water all over the floor from the condensation. I have been wiping the unit down almost daily. The housing for the furnace is starting to rust from all the condensation and you can feel the cool air between the housing and the plenum leaking out into the basement. One of their own contractors mentioned that it appear as though the installation crew didn't put a gasket in that area, so that's why he thought we were getting leaking air and condensation. But he couldn't fix it because that's the installation crew's job. So now we're trying to get the installation crew to come out an put that gasket in so that we don't have to have condensation running all over onto the floor and into the joint where the furnace housing meets the ductwork. My husband has called no less than 4 times, asking for someone to call him back to get this gasket installed. There is never anyone at the office number to talk to - just some woman who doesn't know anything. He even asked for the manager's number and left that guy a message and asked him to return his call. NO BODY has returned any of his calls and we are furious! How many times does a consumer have to contact a service provider before they get someone to help them??? I would lay you bets that they keep avoiding us until such time that the equipment's one year warranty expires and they will charge us to fix all the things that they should have done right in the first place. NOTE: the F rating for professionalism is geared towards the management - the young man that came out to work at our home the few times he was out here was very pleasant and respectful. His manager could learn to be as respectful."

Metal Fabrication and Restoration questions, answered by experts

The best tool for cutting metal ducts depends on the duct's shape and thickness. For round ducts, a duct cutter provides accurate, clean cuts. Reciprocating saws equipped with metal-cutting blades are versatile and suitable for both round and rectangular ducts. They offer speed and precision, especially for thicker metal.

Tin snips are handy for intricate cuts or smaller ducts. However, an angle grinder with a metal-cutting wheel is powerful and efficient for large or thick metal ducts.

Costs range from $500 to $10,000, depending on the type of metal, design complexity, and labor. Larger or more intricate projects require custom quotes.

Also called metal pressing, metal stamping involves placing a metal sheet into a stamping press to create a desired shape using custom tooling. Ideal for mass production, stamping creates coining, embossing, and flanging effects when shaping metal. Meanwhile, sheet metal fabrication is a more cost-effective option ideal for one-off or low-volume projects because it doesn't require custom tooling.

Since water heaters are primarily made of metal, they’re commonly accepted by scrap yards and collectors. Don’t expect to fetch a high price, though—water heaters are mostly steel and aluminum, which aren’t high-value metals. Some components are made of more valuable metals, like brass and copper, but they’re a small portion of the heater and won’t affect the price much.

Some welding projects, such as repairing pipes or fences, require travel, whereas others, like furniture repair, do not necessarily require the welder to come to you. Travel and overhead factor into the overall cost of your welding project. Some of the most common welding projects include:

  • Metal furniture repair: $35–$100

  • Pipe repair: $200–$1,000

  • Small gates: $550–$750

  • Fencing: $1,200–$1,800

  • Fabricated sheet metal welding: $750–$2,500
