"John responded with in 5 minutes of me posting to find plumbing service. Understood the problem. Quoted me a fair price over the phone. Then said he could come out and take care of the job the same day. 4 hours of me making the call the job was done. Iâ m am very hard to please as a customer and john did a great job. Fast and fair. I would recommend him and you will not be disappointed. Thanks John. My mom loved the work done. She can now water her planets."

"It went really well. The installers cleaned up after themselves. The work took only 2 days, we thought it might take 3. They added some insulation to the wall as that room was cold. They had to call a plumber to move the drain and he was on time. The plumbing was done quickly and efficiently. I would use them again, however, most of our remodeling projects are finished."

"The tank for the well pump inside the house ruptured. They came out, and assesed the problem, and replaced the tank same day with a new one, as well as replaced some minor plumbing around the tank. he then flushed and cleaned all the plumbing throughout the house to make sure all of the black material from inside the tank had been flushed through the syste, The only problem I had with the project is the installer did not fully clean up after the project resulting in water that had leaked during the installation on the basement floor. Since it had gone through the pump prior to leaking there water was black from the inside of the tank and very difficult to clean."

"We needed some work done on our mudroom and bathroom in our home. After a very large renovation the MH Renovations did to our kitchen/family room/laundry, we wanted everything to flow nicely. They removed the old mudroom and full bath, matched everything perfectly (down to finding the same lot of tile one year later) and even built a utility/dog shower for our newest member of the family. The highlight of the project was the custom built lockers/cubbies Matt's team built and installed. They serve us well daily, and they were our best option after months of looking at retail options. They are perfect. MH Renovations is our go-to contractors."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use the same hole in the wall for the new spigot, provided that the existing hole is in good condition and aligns with the mounting holes of the new spigot. However, ensuring a proper fit and seal is essential to prevent leaks. If there are significant mismatches or issues with the existing hole, make adjustments or consider using a flange or escutcheon to cover any gaps or imperfections around the new spigot.

This depends on how old your home is and residential construction norms where you live. Most modern homes have outdoor shut-off valves, but many older homes have the water meter indoors. You're most likely to find this valve in the basement or utility closet if it's indoors. If you have an outdoor shut-off valve, it should be somewhere on the perimeter of your home.

Before the widespread use of PVC, affixing a ground wire to plumbing pipes was generally considered to be an acceptable workaround. Nowadays, not so much. There are plenty of nonmetallic water pipes and fittings out there, so any ground previously provided by the metallic piping would be interrupted in these cases, which is dangerous.

Excessive pressure (above 80 psi) puts too much stress on plumbing pipes, joints, and fixtures. This can lead to leaks and burst pipes. Plus, it shortens the lifespan of appliances, can waste water, and can raise your utility bills. High water pressure might feel like a gift, but it’s actually a silent threat to plumbing.

In general, PVC (polyvinyl chloride), PEX (polyethylene), and copper are the three piping materials used in new constructions when adding water supply lines. There are some caveats. PEX and copper are considered ideal when running lines that will handle hot water because they are not at risk for melting and warping the way that PVC piping can. At $0.40 to $4 per linear foot, PEX is considered more affordable than copper pipes, which cost $2 to $12 per linear foot. PVC is considered appropriate in water lines for cold taps only.
