"Chris and his crew did an excellent job! You will not regret hiring him for any painting job. Some background: we have a two story house with a large deck and wooden play house (the Rainbow type wooden house with picnic table and big slide). Our 2-door garage door was originally stained, and the stain had peeled so badly from sun damage that mildew was growing on the door. We also had lots of sun damage and knot holes in the cedar siding, where birds and insects were getting in. We found CQ Painting on Angie's List and were impressed by the reviews. After speaking on the phone, Chris came out within days for a quote, and we scheduled for June. The crew arrived a few days early to power wash, and my first impression was that they were very professional. They cleaned up after themselves and took care to move my furniture and my hanging plants. The weather was very rainy (this was June 2010), so work was delayed, but if there was any chance that Chris could be here, he was here or his crew was here, working all day. First, Chris has a great eye for color. I wasn't sure what color trim to choose, and Chris picked a beautiful contrasting shade that fits perfectly with my neighborhood. He selected a great cedar brown for the deck, which I thought would be too light, but he said "It won't be so hot for the kids' bare feet in summer." I didn't even think of that. Second, Chris and his crew were meticulous. Our deck was so dry that it took 4 gallons of paint (rather than the standard 2). Instead of stretching the paint and finishing up on Monday, which I knew he wanted to do, he stopped and came back the next day to cover the deck completely. They caulked and repaired many areas of the siding and installed metal flashing for some of the larger holes. They were very careful with my landscaping--you'd never know that painters had been here. Third, the paint job itself is beautiful. The lines are perfect, the colors are beautiful, and at the end they went back and touched up everywhere. It looks like we have a brand new house. I am thrilled! Fourth, Chris and his crew went the extra mile. I originally was going to paint the kids' playhouse the same brown that it was, then the kids said they wanted it to look like the house, so I asked Chris if we could change it to blue. Not only did he say okay, he asked if he could paint the trim and the roof, to really "make it special for the kids." So the kids have a custom play house that looks like a little replica of our house. It's just the cutest thing. I should also mention that when they power washed it, they completely removed years-old honey drippings from a honeybee infestation. And now we don't have any more bees! Another example of CQ Painting going the extra mile was our screen door. The door itself was badly damaged, but we found out during the job that the wood casing was completely rotted. Chris not only offered to remove and replace the door (for a very reasonable price), but he picked up the door for me (I ordered and paid for it online) and purchased the wood for me. All I had to do was pay him. My husband was very impressed with the installation, and the new door is a nice bonus. Chris always asked before doing any extra work, and he delivered on every promise that he made. Yet another example of going the extra mile: when we had a tornado warning and the winds kicked up like Wizard of Oz, our dog got out and ran away. One of the guys on the crew chased after her and got her back to us safely. I should mention that they stayed to work until the last possible moment that day. Also, during the last days, we actually had to go out of town. The guys rolled our garbage cans back up to the house for us--we didn't ask them to do this, but it is just another example of the character that this company has. At the end of the job, the price was exactly what we discussed, including the extra work we agreed on. I believe we got a great deal for our money, considering the size of the house and the scope of the work. For everything I mentioned, there are probably a few more positive things I forgot. If you are looking for professional, meticulous, expert painters, CQ Painting will not disappoint. My neighbors hired him to do their deck, and they are also very pleased.
