"I contacted a few companies for quotes and Insulation Co was local to Edmonds, so I engaged them. Jo provided a fast quote over email, which I found odd as the other guys made an effort to come out and view the job and obviously high pressure sell you.... The quote was inline and lower than other guys, so based on that and the great reviews they had, I went with it. Other companies had as many 1 star reviews as 5 star and that was a deal breaker. Jo has almost all 5 Star reviews...The team was able to schedule a time within a week and did all the work while we were out of town. I'm very happy with the results. Did a crawl space insulation, vapor barrier, all the AC duct work and even the adjoining wall to the basement, which I didn't expect. Were in and out in half a day, all cleaned up and professional. House floors are noticeably warmer. Highly recommend this local small business."

"They came in and put plastic on the floor and kept the door closed as as much as possible thus not letting heat out of the house. All the work after went smoothly i.e. quick and neat. Everytime I had a question, Andy stopped and answered every concern we had. He also guaranteed the water clogging wont happen and asked us to contact him on direct line if ever we have a problem. At the end, on request, he also explained to us where and how things work and where the water will go in future. Time was scheduled at 10 am. Andy and his crew came 1.5 hours earlier than the expected time without prior information which caused me to get up and rush to the door half awake. That was the only complain I had."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Overwatering can cause issues like water pooling and drainage problems. To prevent overwatering, monitor your soil levels on a regular basis and change your watering schedule as necessary.

Yes, you can enclose your crawl space. Enclosing your crawl space can promote energy efficiency and reduce the risks of pests and mold by limiting factors like humidity. It can also reduce heat loss, which is why doing so for the winter can make your home more comfortable.

Yes, a crawl space can add value to your home. However, there is a higher chance of it adding value if it is an enclosed crawl space, as this reduces issues caused by excess moisture in the home. That being said, a basement does add more value than a crawl space.

Due to the nature of basements, some level of waterproofing is necessary to prevent water from seeping in and causing damage. Some definitive signs that your basement needs waterproofing measures or needs existing waterproofing measures need to be updated include:

  • Water in your basement, including damp walls or puddles on the floor

  • Mold spots in your basement

  • Musty smells or odors

  • Warped doors or walls

  • Cracks in walls

  • Insect issues, such as cockroaches and termites

Crawl spaces are the more desirable option overall because they provide additional space for storage and utilities, but they are more expensive to install and maintain. Slab foundations are considered a better option in warmer climates where the depth of the frost line isn’t an issue because they’re more affordable, but crawl spaces are better in areas where the frost line is deep or where flooding can be an issue.
