"We are extremely pleased with the job provided for us by Noren’s Deluxe Pro Painting. They painted all walls, ceilings, millwork, and cabinet doors for a very reasonable price. They meticulously painted everything with excellent workmanship and made our condo look brand new. This is a family owned and operated company; they take great pride in their work!"

"David came out right away to give an estimate and I had the estimate the following day. He was very personable and made sure to tell us a little about himself, his company, and his coworker Zach. We compared estimates and decided to go with David with scheduled work starting on July 28.
David, Zach, and Todd showed up July 28 around 8am. I was told that they had another job that they needed to finish up so Todd would be there all day and David/Zach would be back later.  I ran them through some of the additional work requests that were not included in the original estimate(re-tiling patch in shower, several more patches from the plumbers, baseboard). Received an estimate later that day and they even worked with us by using some left over materials from a previous  job to help lower the cost.
We stopped by mostly every day, and at least one person was there anywhere between 7-8am and 6-7pm to get things done. There was a miscommunication early on regarding when they would be finished (initially was Thursday, then got pushed back to Saturday), but was able to reschedule all my other contractors so ended up not being a problem.  They also made sure to tell us of any issues they came across (downstairs drywall was pretty affected by the asbestos removal so gave options of just replace whole thing or fix). Really great about giving us quotes right away and not altering that figure after the fact.
Overall, I think they all did a great job. They were all friendly and personable to talk to, took great care in protecting our floors, and kept us apprised of things as they went...all for a reasonable price.
Note: Asbestos ceiling removal is pretty intensive and to repair the ceiling after the fact is even more so. We had not planned on repainting, but in order to smooth out the corners between the ceiling and wall, the mud came down about 1 foot (vs a couple of inches).

"Phillip arrived on time and well prepared to paint. He was very knowledgeable regarding his trade. He was neat and clean and very polite. He kept the work area clean and when he was finished he cleaned up everything. He did a beautiful job. Where the ceiling met the wall, the lines were perfectly straight. He worked quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend him. He was, by far much better than the painters that I have hired from the big shop painting companies.

"

I've painted for many years including my entire interior recently from a recent fire so I do know quite a bit about painting. I wanted to do the eaves as well but my husband didn't want me up that high on the ladder sanding, etc. so we decided to hire someone. I hired these guys because of the reviews but now I am wondering if the reviews were from real customers because I don't consider them professional. Matthew presented himself well, gave me a discount which was good compared to other bids so I hired him. They (Matthew and a couple of workers) were punctual and the first day all seemed to go well. The house was built in 1968, the eaves done in stain but was in bad need of some loving care and we wanted them refinished with exterior paint. The first day they stripped the stain which left a big mess on the outside of our windows, the screens, and on top of the lower part of the roof which can be seen as you walk up the entry. That's to be expected. The next day they came to paint the eaves. When they showed up I asked Matthew if they were going to clean my windows and screens to which he said yes and he mentioned taking them off. Since they come off from the inside I offered to do that for them which we did. I wasn't sure where to put them in the yard for them to clean so I set them on the upper deck and told Matthew this.  Now this is where my frustration started. While Matthew's guys were spray painting, he was out in our driveway with some of his tools, etc. outside the van and he was pressuring washing them as well as the van for a good hour or more. Why wasn't he cleaning the screens? Early evening Matthew knocks on my door telling me they are finished so I walk around the house with him. Really? You call this finished? Above the entire deck which is 28' long you could see brown through the white, looked as if it were dirty and needed painting. On the west side of the house there is a lower eave attached to the garage, it was half white, half yellowish looking. I really don't know what they did there. He said it had something to do with the primer.  Other side of the garage eave which is located at the entry way wasn't even completely painted. Both ends were still the brown wood. I pointed that out to him and he said it was too close to the brick and they didn't want to get it on the brick. Really? Have you ever heard of a paint brush? (this is exactly what I asked him). I told him I could of did a better job! The next day they return to re-do what needed to be done. Matthew comes to the door at the end of the day to have me check it out again. This time I was satisfied with the paint job, however nothing had been cleaned up, I mentioned the screens that were on the back deck once again, the windows and lower roof still had a lot of crap on them from the preparation so I asked them if they were going to clean it which they did. In my opinion they are the supposedly the professionals, why wouldn't they have the screens removed before they started? Now Matthew comes to the door to finalize the deal, asks me if I am 100% satisfied and I told him no not 100% but that's okay. At this point I just wanted them gone! I was tired of dealing with it. He insisted on knowing what I wasn't satisfied with. The guy who pressure washed the screens on the deck ended up getting the debris all over the paint job they just finished so it had specks of dirt all over it and on another corner where he pressure washed the windows he had water/paint drops dripping off the eaves. Really? Who pressure washes that close to a freshly painted surface? They ended up taking care of it. In the end the paint job looks good but with all the frustrations I would not recommend them. I realize in the contract it says they may accidentally step on a plant coming off the ladder but how about just plain standing in the middle of my plant breaking it all the way to the ground while I am right there showing them places they missed on the lower part of the garage? Knocking my planter over, instead of picking it up and moving it somewhere else just running over it with the hose. After the finished repainting the corners and doing the clean up I paid them and was relieved when they were done. Although after the left, I went to put the screens back on the windows, screens were still full of the debris so I had to re-do every screen. The windows still had some debris on them so had to clean them as well before putting screens back on. The kicker is, while I was out on the deck scrubbing the screens with a brush I started noticing paint all over my patio table, my deck chairs and my outside light fixture. :-(  They had covered up some ugly bushes I really could of cared less about with tarp which was good but why not my deck furniture and light fixture? Once again, I would not recommend them unless you like dealing with frustration!

"I will never shop for a house painter again. I'll just call Daren. Totally professional and totally likeable from start to finish. He goes above and beyond to be sure the customer is satisfied. I'm sure I could have gotten a cheaper deal, but not a better deal than D&H."

"We initially hired Nick's company to repair some damaged drywall in stairwells, a laundry room, and a hole in our ceiling from a roof leak. Later, we had a water heater die and also had to remove some drywall that got wet in the garage. His repairman Alfredo came out to our place on three separate trips, always very promptly and with great communication via email. He worked quickly and efficiently, took care of obtaining all the materials (including matching the paint), and made everything look as good as new. He is also very pleasant and a great self-manager. We're so happy with the work he's done that we called Nick to give us a price on exterior painting. He again was very responsive and came out to our place to give an estimate. The price is fair, so we will hire him again."

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

Because poison ivy and similar plants can cause potentially life-threatening allergic reactions depending on your sensitivity, it's best to hire a professional to remove it. Hiring a local lawn care service or other professional also increases your chances of successful eradication so that you don't have to deal with the issue again several months down the road.

While it is possible to paint over wallpaper, it is generally better to remove it first to guarantee a smooth, professional finish. Painting over wallpaper can save time, but it may lead to issues if not done correctly.

You can paint over existing wallpaper if it is in excellent condition: smooth, non-textured, clean, and firmly adhered to the wall. Ensure there are no bumps, tears, or peeling areas, and that all corners and seams are securely glued down. You might also consider painting over wallpaper if removing it would damage the underlying wall. Additionally, some wallpapers are specifically designed to be paintable, which can add texture to a room.

However, there are risks. If the wallpaper is textured, damaged, or peeling, these imperfections will show through the new paint. The moisture from the paint can also loosen the wallpaper's adhesive, causing it to bubble and potentially damage the wall. To mitigate these issues, clean the surface thoroughly and use an oil-based primer to help the paint adhere and prevent the old adhesive from bleeding through.

Removing wallpaper can be easy if you have a non-coated wallpaper, but most homeowners have vinyl-coated wallpaper, which is more durable but tears very easily during the removal process. This feature makes it challenging and time-consuming to remove most wallpaper. There are tools to speed up the process, like steamers, but, unfortunately, it’s easy to permanently damage your walls when using them. In most cases, it’s best to hire a professional wallpaper remover to get the job done quickly and without damaging your home.

Costs depend on wallpaper type, wall condition, labor, and necessary repairs.

The average cost to remove wallpaper is $790. The final price tag depends on the size of the room and the complexity of the project, and can range from $200 to $2,000. Usually, removing peel-and-stick wallpaper is on the lower end of the cost scale, as it doesn't require special tools to remove.
