"Steve did an amazing job, was stressed about the delicate wood where the electrical box had to be cut and then the fan installed but Steve did it perfect. Thank you again for everything."

"Smart electric did such an amazing job! Joe and his crew were friendly, helpful, fast and meticulous with their work. We hired them for a large project that included running Cat6 Ethernet all through the home, adding outlets, adding COAX cables, adding fans/lights to the bedrooms, adding can lights, installing a natural gas generator and automatic switch over, terminating all the cat6 and coax to a server area, install WiFi hotspots in the ceiling, surround sound speakers in the family room, recessed power and wiring for the TV in the Family Room above the fireplace including a smurf tube. And the list goes on and on. They will be my first any work in the future."

"I am overly excited with the roof that I had installed by Home Squad. The service was exceptional starting with the initial visit with Jerry, to the removal of my old roof and ugly ply wood to the completion of the roof. Jerry is knowledgeable with the products and assisted me in choosing the roof that best fits my house, my needs and most importantly my budget. Everything Jerry stated that would be done during the installation was carried out. This is a big investment for my house, and I couldn't be happier with the results! My family loved the look of my home and I know this roof will last me a long time because they used GAF materials, their warranty is great! I will be recommending Home Squad to anyone. Thank you so much!!"

",Thanks to an Angie's Big Deal, Alpha and Omega came to my home and installed 2 ceiling fixtures. I was a little worried when I realized I was outside the service area for the deal (Angies could be better at defining this.) But it worked out great with them  just making it part of the deal.  They couldn't have been nicer. My service tech was friendly,  courteous and professional. One light was easy as it already had a new box, but of course, the more public one was on my last bit of older wiring. It was a bit trickier to deal with and he did a great job. He even paid attention to the little details of making sure the round blank ugly spot in the popcorn ceiling was completely covered by the new ceiling plate. There was even a few minutes for him to check my outside outlets where the Christmas lights go and make sure they were ready to go. The only reason I put a N/A in the punctuality spot is we had a miscommunication that was nobody's fault and it all worked out fine. I loved having my new lights up for Thanksgiving!  . I should also mention, the service did not even mind his feline supervisor. (One of my cats thinks he a 3 year old little boy and likes to "help".)  I would definitely use them again"

"Very fair rates and extremely professional work. They installed 18 can lights throughout the home, 4 ceiling fans and 2 pendants. They even called the fan manufacturer to troubleshoot why one wasn’t working to find out the receiver was faulty. They came back to complete the install of the fan when the new receiver came in for no additional service charge which I really appreciated as I wasn’t being nickled and dimed. They will be my go to guys for all electrical and lighting needs."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.

Hiring an electrician to install a new ceiling fan may be the best course of action. Installing a ceiling fan requires basic electrical and mechanical knowledge. It also requires holding it up with one hand and in an awkward position, making the installation even more difficult. If you’re uncomfortable with these circumstances, your best bet is to hire a professional.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example:

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.

To convert a ceiling fan to wireless, you’ll need to install a canopy module to access the lighting and fan controls. Many options are available, all of which help you control specific elements of your ceiling fan, so you have plenty of choices depending on your needs.
