After graduating from Sequim High School, he attended Perry Technical Institute, where he earned a degree in HVAC / Refrigeration. "This company installed a heating system at my parent's home in PA. The installed it in the most awful spot of the house. not only does it not heat the home evenly, it was installed in the most comspicuous place on the outside of the house. The house is brown and they installed a white large block system that must have been convinient for them, but looks ridicuolus. They never offered an alternate for my parents, charged a high amount of money, and left them with an expensive system that doesn't do the job. My parents are elderly and they were taken advantage by this company."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Zoned HVAC systems can be worth it for some homeowners, even with the added HVAC replacement costs, because they offer tremendous benefits. Zoned HVAC may offer greater stability and efficiency if your home has multiple levels and experiences constant temperature fluctuations. However, even smaller homes without major fluctuations can benefit since zoned HVAC systems can adjust their temperature more quickly by heating and cooling only the spaces you need.

Yes. Return air vents are responsible for gathering and pulling in the warmer air. Once they draw it in, your system conditions the air by removing the warmer molecules from it, allowing your air conditioner to dispense the cooler air back into your home. Not only does this create a more comfortable environment for you, but it also keeps your air conditioner from overworking, resulting in lower energy bills.

You may never need an AC recharge if there are no leaks. However, if your AC unit has a leak that cannot be patched appropriately, you’ll need an AC recharge every time the freon level drops low enough that it disrupts your system—this could be once every two to three years. It all depends on the size and frequency of the leak.

If you have the luxury of waiting a bit to replace your unit, they can drop in price depending on the time of year. Air conditioning units often go on sale in the fall after they’re not as in demand when the temps drop outside. Same with furnaces—prices drop in the spring when it starts getting warmer.

Yes. In fact, not only are AC tuneups worth it, but they’re actually necessary to keep your air conditioner in good condition, improve its efficiency, and potentially prevent major damage. Experts recommend getting a tuneup at least once per year. In most cases, you’ll want to schedule it during the spring so that you can address any issues before the hottest months of the year.
