Customers say: Super punctual

"I first met Jack when he came to my home on a Sunday (same day service) to check out some duct work that had come loose. He took the time to do the repair same day. I was so impressed that I asked him back to complete a long honey-do list. He sent Josh to help me out and his work was impeccable. Everything was completed in just a couple of days. Both Jack and Josh are courteous, kind, clean and are excellent tradesmen. I had an issue with a product they installed for me and they were back within 24 hrs to fix it. I could not be happier with their work and their professionalism. I give them 5 stars all around!"

"I called Alarm Protection Group AFTER my office was burglarized. Now I feel SAFE. William is great to work with. He's neat and tidy, prompt, presentable - not a butt-crack type of guy, and he doesn't leave a mess in his wake. He's also knowledgeable about the equipment and only uses high-quality products."

"He did a fantastic job on my grandma's 2014 Cadillac. She lost her key, so we had to have a new one programmed and a physical key made. He even gave us a few spare physical keys for free. He was courteous, friendly, and very professional. I would definitely recommend him."

"Tom is wonderful - knowledgeable, reliable, and very professional. He fixed my very old and sad-looking door, and when I wanted to enlist his help for more projects, he pointed out what needed to be repaired and what did not, rather than trying to persuade me into booking more work with him. definitely a trustworthy man and would 10/10 recommend!"

"The tech Brian showed up early, which would probably be great for most people, but I was just heading out to take my daughter to school, but he knew he was early so agreed to come back in an hour at our scheduled time. The pocket door he inspected and determined that it was not repairable without taking off all of the moulding around the door, so I decided not to proceed with that.  He hung my curtain rod (simple thing, but I alway screw up the holes) with ease.  The cabinet doors he was able to repair but explained to me why it would keep happening and that at some point the hinges would need to be run hung altogether, which was good to know so I can sell before that happens!  The biggest chore was whole in my laundry room from the door repeatedly banging into it. He was kind enough to provide me a new door stop as we'll, and the patch work looks great, it was a much bigger job than I envisioned.  But you can't even tell there was a hole there.Because he cut out the hole and patched it with a new board, there was a lot of dust, and I wish I had known so I could put a towel over my washer and drying and all the things on top of them (shoes etc...) But all in all I was very pleased.  I even was surprised in the cost, I guess I assumed the bill multiplying by the minute, but I think the cost was well worth the work."

"Walter and Glen at Protect Your Home Group with ADT are the best people to talk to in terms of security alarm. Being a locksmith myself I know how important it is to deal with the right people. I referred a lot of customers to them and so far they are happy with their service. I myself got one for my house. Thank you for a consistent service and great deal."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

When it comes to how to get a stuck key out of a lock, the simplest way is to use some kind of lubricating substance. One option is to apply graphite powder while wiggling the key gently. As the graphite fills the lock, jiggling should loosen the key enough to allow you to pull it out.

Smart deadbolts are a worthwhile investment for homeowners seeking more convenience, flexibility, and advanced features than a traditional deadbolt can provide. While a strong conventional deadbolt offers sufficient security for most, smart deadbolts provide significant upgrades.

Key benefits include keyless entry via smartphone, keypads, or biometric sensors, and the ability to lock or unlock your door remotely. You can also manage access for guests by creating temporary codes, eliminating the need for physical keys and the risk of them being lost or duplicated. Many models integrate with smart home systems and offer features like automatic locking, entry-exit monitoring, and tamper alerts with encryption for enhanced security.

However, there are downsides to consider. Smart deadbolts are more expensive than their traditional counterparts and rely on batteries and wireless networks to function. This dependency introduces potential vulnerabilities, such as hacking by skilled intruders and privacy concerns. Installation can also be more complex. Despite these drawbacks, the added layer of convenience and protection makes them a compelling option for many.

A keypad deadbolt, a lock requiring a code entered on a keypad entry, can be a convenient option for families with children coming in and out and needing access to the home. It can also offer an easy solution if you rent your home out, since you can easily change the code as needed. So, depending on your home entry’s needs, a keypad deadbolt may be worth the extra expense.

Several types of deadbolts are available, including single-cylinder, double-cylinder, rim, smart, and electronic deadbolt locks. The most common type found in U.S. homes is the single-cylinder deadbolt, which uses a key on the exterior and a thumb turn on the interior. A double-cylinder deadbolt features two locking mechanisms and requires a key to be operated from both the inside and the outside.

Yes, with better technology now available, it’s possible to add a smart lock on your sliding glass door. Smart locks can be easy for almost everyone in the family to operate and can connect to other safety features in the home, like smart lights. Plus, they’re harder for would-be criminals to pick. However, keep in mind that smart locks can potentially be hacked, and some completely rely on phones or Wi-Fi, which can be an issue if the power goes out.
