To aid removal, lubricate the keyhole with a graphite-based spray. Then, try using tools like pliers, tweezers, a bobby pin, or even a jigsaw blade to gently grasp and pull the broken piece out. If these methods don't work, you can't reach the key, or you're concerned about damaging the lock, it's best to call a professional locksmith for assistance.

The cost-effectiveness of fixing or replacing a door lock depends on the severity of the issue. Repairing a minor problem, such as loose screws or a need for lubrication, is usually cheaper than replacing the entire lock. However, replacing the lock if it is severely damaged, outdated, or lacks security features may be a better long-term investment.
