"Install was all with lennox line products, it looks great and it's much quieter than the old furnace.  They did it all in one day and it came out looking awesome.  I will definitely be calling them for any future hvac work. Not much else to say other than they did a great job for a great price."

"Took about 2.5 days to remove an antiquated panel, meter and mast and replace with a more modern one. They also cleaned up a bunch of wiring issues in the house and ran conduit and power for an HVAC system. I am still pending power company inspection, but I'm sure the work will pass easily."

"Didn't realize that Smart Electric did HVAC as well, until I got a recommendation. Their quote was the best I'd received, they performed the install within a week of giving us the quote, the Installer/Estimator was knowledgable and helpful, and the installation was performed by an excellent group. I can't imagine we could be happier about our Heat Pump installation!"

"This was an excellent customer service experience. I selected Day & Nite Plumbing & Heating in Lynnwood, WA on the strength of Angie's List reviews that describe actual furnace repair work rather than other companies that seem more focused on doing furnace replacements. (Day & Nite do replacements, of course, but the reviews cited a fair number of repairs as well.) Although my gas furnace (a Carrier Weathermaster 800) is about 20 years old, my circumstances didn't allow replacement. When I contacted Shondra in their office about available appointments they were booking several days out, but were able to move it up a day and a half which was very appreciated given the cold nights. Tyler was the HVAC-R Technician sent for my appointment and he was amazing - both personable and knowledgeable, he listened to my concerns and quickly diagnosed and fixed the unit. He also understood that I am someone who likes to know details on what is being done and why – not too much detail, but enough so I felt informed which reassured me. Tyler’s great customer service and positive attitude, on top of his knowledge and experience with the technology impressed me so much I signed up with Day & Nite for their annual furnace maintenance plan next winter and will happily refer my friends and family for their furnace needs. I have yet to experience the Day & Nite plumbing services, but on the strength of my experience with Day and Nite and support by Tyler, I will give them a call when that need arises. (FYI: The approximate service cost of $600 included the ignitor part less a 10% customer discount for signing up for the maintenance plan, the trip charge and that for next winter’s maintenance trip, plus tax.)"

"Review for Bassett Home Heating, Inc.: In early February of 2022, John Bassett of Bassett Home Heating, Inc., the representative of the family-owned and operated heating and cooling company, responded when I asked for an estimate to remove an old gas furnace and install a new gas furnace and an air-conditioner in its place. John showed up on time and discussed the project in detail. In addition to the fact that Bassett featured American Standard products, I was impressed by the 3-year maintenance agreement (A/C and furnace) I could purchase wherein a company representative would stop by each winter and each summer to maintain our new furnace and air-conditioner. I requested that the furnace and A/C be installed before June and they were installed on May 23 by John’s son, David Bassett. David showed up with a 3-man crew and the installation was completed in less than a day. I was impressed by the competence and professionalism of the installation. Bassett was able to use my existing programmable thermostat (which was fairly new), and David took the time to explain how to operate it for the furnace (heat) and the air-conditioner (cool). The air-conditioner and the furnace have both operated exceptionally well throughout the summer, fall, and upcoming winter. I would rate the total experience as 4 out of 5 stars. Although the products and installation were top notch, communication with the office was inconsistent. I paid the revised balance of my bill shortly after installation (which was less because a new thermostat was not needed). I was told that there were computer problems when I called, emailed or left voicemails requesting a copy of the revised invoice as proof of payment that I could supply to Puget Sound Energy for an energy rebate. Five weeks after installation, I received a revised second invoice and updated paperwork in the mail."

"Wow, these people were great! After seeing another company struggle to get two very old fas fireplaces to work, our property manager was directed by another fireplace repair place (who no longer services gas fireplaces) to call Lifetime. They sent Travis McKibben to our home, and he was fast, efficient, and most of all, he got the job done and done well. He really knows what he's doing, and is a really nice guy too. If you have to get service on a gas fireplace (especially an older model), or need HVAC work, I highly recommend this company and this technician."

"I initially hired this company to do a routine maintenance on my heating/cooling equipment. In the middle I needed to have the blower on the forced air system cleaned and rebuilt. The blower failed shortly thereafter and Air Ductors replaced the blower at cost. The next blower was bad out of the box! They came back promptly and were able to help us keep an elderly mom/in-law who lives with us and is heat vulnerable comfortable in extreme heat conditions! Air Ductors encountered problems and overcame them with a great attitude."

"Blue Flame Heating & Air Conditioning I spent 2 weeks researching HVAC companies in my area. Two of the HVAC companies I interviewed tried to steer me toward solutions and equipment I wasn't asking for. Both of those companies also didn't even bother to do a Manuel J residential load evaluation to determine what size of HVAC system I would need. Kyler - the Blue Flame advisor/estimator walked me through my options and the pros and cons of the different HVAC systems. He also showed me the yearly cost difference (graph) of AC/Gas versus a heat pump. I didn't feel he tried to sell me a particular brand or use a lot of HVAC jargon to overwhelm me. They were able to schedule me for an install for 2 weeks later (although I was able to move it up a week because of a cancelation). I ended up replacing and upgrading my 20 year old gas furnace from 80% to 96% efficiency, 2 stage (Rheem), added a Trane 17 seer A/C unit, and a Mitsubishi ductless heat pump, and replaced my flex ducting with rigid ducting, and I also replaced my thermostat with a new 3rd generation smart Nest thermostat (highly recommend). They had everything up and running in 3 days (plus one day to insulate the ducts, do a pressure test and adjust the dampers). Day 1 Luke and Mannie installed the furnace, day 2 they installed the A/C, ductless heat pump, and removed the flex ducting. Day 3 they custom fabricated and installed the rigid ducts in my crawl space, charged the A/C, checked for leaks, and did a final inspection on the entire system. The primary installers, Luke and Mannie were incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and hard working. The amount of work, and skill to fabricate a custom HAVC install is hard to describe. At one point there was 3 trucks in front of my house (a different group of Blue Flame installers had finished early on another project and came over and pitched in) with 6-7 people all working as a team. Everything is working perfectly, there was a high level of professionalism and skill that went into every aspect of this project. The overall cost was competitive and fair - you get what you pay for. I highly recommend them - it was a great experience. Getting the right contractor is the most important part of HVAC solution, more important than the equipment it self."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Because of the improved efficiency, ACs with higher SEER ratings tend to cool down your home better than models with a lower SEER. Higher-SEER AC units have a higher cooling capacity and a lower energy demand, meaning they may help cool your space faster without running up the electricity bill.

A window AC unit is not completely silent. You’ll hear the sound of air blowing, and if you put your ear right up next to the unit, you may hear a slight hiss or gurgle as the refrigerant flows through the system. That said, if your system is making a running water sound, a loud banging sound, a grinding sound, or physically vibrating, you may be facing an issue or malfunction with your AC unit.

Choosing between a ductless mini-split and central AC depends on your specific needs. Ductless mini-splits are ideal for targeted cooling, providing zoned comfort and energy efficiency. They are perfect for smaller spaces or homes lacking ductwork. In contrast, central AC offers consistent cooling throughout the entire house but requires ductwork and may be less energy-efficient for smaller spaces.

Consider factors like budget, home size, and cooling preferences to make the right choice. Combining both systems, with a ductless mini-split in specific areas, can also be a viable solution for tailored comfort and overall efficiency.

After a while, dust, dirt, and other debris accumulates on an AC unit's coils and filters, making it less efficient and spreading allergens and other air pollutants throughout your home. Cleaning your AC unit will keep it running efficiently, minimizing future breakdowns and improving your indoor air quality.

You may be able to clean mold from your air conditioner in some cases. If the mold growth only takes up a small area, you can use either vinegar or bleach mixed with water to remove it. Larger areas of mold should be left to the professionals, though. It's also a good idea to leave mold removal to the pros if you are sensitive to mold or have asthma.
