"Jake and his crew is our go to roofing contractor for all our projects where we need roofing work done. He has been great to work with over the years. The quality of the work is great. They have always been responsive to our needs. And they bend over backwards to go the extra mile. I would highly recommend Stout Roofing for any roofing project."

"Of five total estimates requested (four through HomeAdvisor), Vitor and crew with Premier Roofing Services was quick to visit our site for personable assessment followed by professional quote within the day. This was a 2200 sf total roofing replacement. Once we gave them the go-ahead mid-week, they assigned a double-crew on Friday that was able to complete the job to satisfaction in one full day. We would be eager to recommend Premier."

"Brave roofers did exceptional work on my roof. Their speed and quality surrpaset my expecting. The cost was thousands less than bids for comparable quality work. The owner Vitor over saw the work and handled all the details of the job and gave it his personal attention. My roof needed a lot of work as it was 35 years old. They made the repairs and ventalation upgrades needed exactly. They came at 8:000 AM and finished at 8:30 PM so we're done in 1 day. The crew was very polite and professional. When they were done the site was left spotless, I cold not even tell they had been there. I highly recommend them if you ever need high quality roofing done. My neighbor spoke with Vitor and saw the speed and quality they provide and had his roof done as well."

"Miguel at Nobility Roofing did an excellent job. I asked him to evaluate our roof for options to remediate excess water overflowing the edge of the roof with built in gutters. He identified that the existing downspouts were improperly sized, and that a few more downspouts needed to be added. Over the course of a week, he completed the work and it looks fantastic. Since the work has been completed, we've had several heavy rainfall periods. Typically, parts of our roof would turn into waterfalls over the edge of the roof during heavy rain. Since Miguel did the work, every drop of water has gone down the downspouts as planned, with no excess water over the edge. I highly recommend working with Miguel and Nobility Roofing!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, but it won't be as effective as installing it as part of a new roof because it won't be as water-resistant. However, a drip edge installed after the fact is better than no drip edge at all.

A roof overlay will last an average of 15 years, compared to the 20 to 30 years or more that a full roof replacement for a shingle roof will last. An overlay’s lifespan may be shortened even further if there’s underlying damage to the existing roof or structural problems with the roof supports.

The placement of snow guards depends on the individual roof, but typically snow guards are placed between 12 and 18 inches from the eaves, though they can be placed as close as six inches and as far as 24 inches from the eaves. A roofing professional can assess the roof and potential snow loads to determine the best placement.

The number of snow guards you’ll need on your roof depends on factors like the type of roof you have, its slope, the orientation of your home, and the snow load in your area. A local roofing professional or the snow guard manufacturer can help you determine the ideal amount.

No, you should not close or cover your gable vents in the winter. While it might seem logical to block cold air, heating your home creates hot air that rises and can cause condensation in the attic. If the vents are covered, this moisture becomes trapped, creating an ideal environment for mold and mildew. Keeping the gable vents open ensures proper ventilation, which helps dry out the attic, maintain even temperatures, and prevent moisture-related damage.
