"Matthew and his crew did a great job removing some hazardous trees and clearing some shrubs. They were on time, detailed and did a great job cleaning afterwards. The costs were also reasonable. I highly recommend them."

"We have had Chris and his guys out to do tree work in our yard 3 times in the last 5 years, each time they come, they have done excellent work. They are always courteous and are very hard workers. Chris does a good job of keeping us informed regarding their schedule in regards to "our job". I would highly recommend them."

"I was frankly amazed at how good these people are: 1. They came and gave me an estimate that was as good or better than others that I had received. 2. They scheduled things in a simple way that didn't require me to even be home. 3. They then came by a few days in advance and put up no parking signs in front of the house to ensure they had place for the trucks etc. 4. They also came by and marked to the tree and a cut line so there would be no mistakes. 5. AND they took a video of the access points, the path to the tree, the tree itself so everyone involved would be familiar. 6. They then sent the first crew that made incredibly quick work of efficiently taking down a very large tree with five trunks and cleaning everything up so there was no debris whatsoever. 7. Then came the stump grinding crew who figured out how to navigate an impossible small entryway and ground the stump to nothing. 8 Finally they swept everything up and even cleaned up leaves in the garden that had nothing to do with the job. 9. At each stage someone from the company called me before and after to make sure I knew what was going to happen and then to follow up and make sure it went as I expected. It just does not get any better than this. They could write the book on customer service."

Customers say: Quality work

"Tree-works removed 2 large trees at a fair price. The wood they left was in 2 nice stacks. It had to be split into quarter rounds to move it up to the area where we wanted it and the rest of the property was spotless. Very hardworking and professional crew. I would highly recommend."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on tree height, trunk diameter, removal complexity, and required equipment.

Most experts recommend removing a tree that has sustained more than 25% loss in the limbs, trunk, or circumference of the bark. Doing an initial trimming of damaged and dangling branches, but then waiting a few days of monitoring to decide how much more you might need to cut can help you better assess the total damage to the tree. However, consulting a tree maintenance pro to make this determination the best course of action before removing a tree.

Tree experts don’t advise against digging through tree roots, but instead encourage caution and consultation with a local arborist to make sure you don’t damage the tree’s structure or interrupt its water or nutrient intake. An arborist can recommend specific practices when digging and help prune the roots or dig a trench for utilities with a tool that can remove soil without touching the tree’s roots.

All of the tree root removal methods mentioned above are effective on any kind of root, whether it’s still growing or simply needs a gentle nudge to finish decomposing. The only difference is that larger roots tend to be harder to remove and may require multiple chemical treatments as well as manual labor to eradicate.

Since overwatering can harm mature trees just as much as a lack of water, it’s important to know the signs of an overwatered tree. If your tree’s leaves are yellowing, wilting, or dropping leaves, it’s likely that you’re overwatering. Other common signs include rotting, fungi, soggy soil, soft or peeling bark, falling leaves, and brittle roots.

If you realize that you’ve been overwatering your mature tree, stop watering and give the soil time to dry out. Then moving forward, increase time between watering sessions.
