"I hired Near Me Roofing Company to replace my Siding, shingle my roof, replace a rubber roof, and replace my gutters plus new . Everyone I dealt with was professional, courteous, responsive and knowledgeable. I am pleased with the work they had done. All was done in a timely manner and they cleaned all the debris and removed it. Near Me Roofing Company were wonderful and went out of their way to explain the work as well as following up with me. "Sam did our kitchen remodel and we are extremely happy on how it turned out. They are very very responsive and very accommodating to any new requests. Even with shortage of supplies at times due to Covid they were able to finish our kitchen within the time they committed to. Sam and team do put customer service at the top of their priority. I also appreciate their patience. This was the first time we are remodeling and were very nervous and concerned at times. We would have a lot of questions but Sam would answer them with extreme patience. I would recommend them!"

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

Remodeling a house is often less expensive than building a new house. You can expect to pay an average of $100 per square foot when you are remodeling. The cost to build a house averages about $150 per square foot. When remodeling, though, some rooms cost more than $100 per square foot and some cost less. Use a home renovation cost estimator to accurately estimate your remodeling costs.

Framing is often the most expensive phase of building a house because it’s time-consuming and requires a lot of materials. It costs between $20,000 and $50,000 on average, depending on materials and labor costs. Before construction begins, it’s possible that purchasing land is the priciest step in the process. Some plots of land sell for $3,000, while others cost upwards of $150,000.

A construction manager is particularly useful in the case of a large-scale build with custom design elements, so it’s usually worth it to hire one. They can help manage your budget, maintain quality control, oversee timelines, and navigate unexpected hurdles. While construction managers are pricey, they can actually save money in the long run by identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring the project stays within budget.

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.

Hiring a reliable home builder is an essential task, but there are a few questions you can ask a potential builder to ensure you they are trustworthy and up to the task:

  • How long do you expect the process to take?

  • Are you fully licensed and insured?

  • How much of the work will you subcontract?

  • Will you pull all of the necessary permits for the job?

  • How long is the builder’s warranty you include with your work?

  • How do you handle resolution for issues I might have with the finished product?

  • How much experience do you have?
