He explained what the problems were with the original installation and then cleaned the tile and replaced the grout. He also installed shower bars which will help us from falling in the shower. We highly recommend this gentleman."

It required removing old penny tiles, many of which had come loose, and replacing them with one foot square tiles that matched the backsplash. They accommodated our desire to get the job done promptly and we’re very professional. "Last November we hired Steve and his crew from Steveâ s Home services to do a complete remodel of our main living areas of our home. This included the bathroom, 2nd bathroom, kitchen, family and living room. They installed new wood floors in a lot of areas, tile floor in bathroom, tile inlay in entry, and a pony wall by front entry. Two main walls were removed between the family and living areas. A full kitchen tear out and everything new was installed including the cabinets. They are a wonderful personable group of hard working contractors to work with. Their work is top quality! We had them in our home for about 5 weeks. We didnâ t have to move out because they cleaned up everyday and protected our furniture with coverings. We will hire them again for phase 2 to remodel our master bathroom."

"I was impressed! I sent an email when I found Ryan's Restoration on Angie's List. I received an immediate response and an appointment was set up within two days.(I had a short turn around because the house was being re-rented). Bob, who was superb, came out on Saturday at 1:30 and worked non-stop till about 7:30. He was super professional, pleasant, and did an outstanding job. The carpet are looking wonderful after stretching (no ripples), repair, and cleaning. The tile looks great and I feel comfortable letting new renters move in (the old renters had three dogs and I wanted to make sure the house was clean and safe). I would re-hire them in a minute....a very professional service organization. "
"This is the second job DJ has done for me. The first one was perfect. DJ is very prompt and responsive. He has a good customer service attitude. He has an excellent eye and was extremely helpful in coming up with a plan to make the fireplace floor/hearth surround look wonderful. We had a difference of opinion about what the estimate covered and he refunded part of my money based on that difference. There was a problem with the work in one room that I had to have some of it redone. DJ got someone out to fix the problem right away. There are still a couple of spots that don't look so good, and I am sure that DJ would send the crew back again until it is perfect. But, I can't stand anymore of the fumes from the Swedish finish, so I am willing to leave it as is. My one suggestion to DJ would be that he have a more specific written estimate to avoid misunderstandings. I would not rate the ceramic tile work as highly as the work on the wood floors. I mis-measured and asked for 3/8" grout lines. They are too wide and don't look good. Also, NOW I see on the box that max width for the grout is 1/8". This is my fault for asking for the wider groutlines. But, I am not a floor expert and didn't know better. I was reachable by telephone so could have been told that the grout does not support such a wide line. Also, one of the tiles that was used has a chipped corner. This is a small chip & not real obvious, but the imperfect tile should not have been used as extra tiles were available."

You can lay tile directly on a plywood countertop, but if it’s a high-traffic surface in a kitchen, it’s better to add a moisture-resistant base. Plywood is susceptible to moisture, so if dampness seeps through from the surface around the sink or where you prep food, it can cause the plywood to warp, leading to grout damage, cracked tiles, or mold growth under the surface.
You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.
If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.
