"Fast and easy. The tech showed up on time and was quick and efficient in his inspection. He took several pictures to document the results of his inspection and provided written report with photos attached via email so I could provide proof of completion to my landlord. No cleaning was required as I had not used the fireplace during my occupancy, and I was happy that he only charge me for the inspection. Overall very satisfied, would happily use again."

"The only negative was that they were an hour late. But when Jaian got here he got right to it. He worked quickly and efficiently, cleaning while he worked from project to project. I got my chimney, air ducts and dryer vent cleaned. I am very pleased!!"

"We are very satisfied with Shamrock. When we requested an estimate for our projects, they quickly provided a clear, reasonable quote, and all our questions were answered. After we accepted the proposal, they showed up next week and completed the work. Everything we needed was done very well. Highly recommended."

"Update to my previous review. After contacting Joseph with Around The Clock he promptly came to my home, fixed the settings on my unit and is coming back to clean my fireplace free of charge. He is also personally ordering me a new factory remote as I requested. Thank you, Joseph, for making things right, would do business with Joseph again."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Schedule gas log service immediately if your carbon monoxide detector alarms, as state regulations require professional inspection. Book an annual inspection in early fall to address any corrosion caused by the humid VA summers. Watch for uneven flames or delayed ignition, which indicate that heavy spring pollen has clogged the burner ports and requires professional cleaning before winter arrives.

Helpful?

Routine fireplace service like an annual sweep takes one to two hours, while minor repairs require a half or full day. Masonry repairs take one to three days, with extended cure times due to the humid climate in Williamsburg. Full chimney rebuilds require three to seven days. Because peak heating season and storm season create high demand, local professionals book two to six weeks out during the fall. Schedule your service early.

Helpful?

Burning unseasoned wood is a major mistake that accelerates dangerous creosote buildup. Firewood requires twelve to twenty-four months to properly dry in the humid Williamsburg climate. Homeowners also skip annual inspections during mild winters, allowing hidden moisture damage and mortar deterioration to worsen. Avoid doing structural DIY repairs without permits, and never use standard Portland cement instead of refractory mortar. Always address storm damage and flashing failures immediately to prevent leaks.

Helpful?

Because VA experiences high humidity and heavy rainfall, prioritize moisture-resistant materials for your fireplace service. Choose stainless steel flue liners, which resist corrosion much better than traditional clay tiles. Use refractory mortar for firebox repairs to withstand high heat and moisture. Apply vapor-permeable waterproofing sealants to protect your masonry. Finally, install stainless steel or copper flashing at the roofline to prevent wind-driven rain from entering your home.

Helpful?

Hire licensed contractors who carry active liability insurance and have specific credentials for gas fitting work in VA. Ensure your professional is willing to pull all required local permits for your gas log service. Choose a specialist experienced with coordinating pressure tests with the local utility provider and navigating approval processes if your property sits within a designated historic district.
