"They were prompt and professional in getting to me for an evaluation and cost estimate. It took awhile to get to the job because they're pretty busy. The workers did an excellent job on the roof of the 8'x12' shed, even replacing my weathervane. Everything went smoothly."

"Very happy with the work done. Price was very reasonable. Work crew was professional, courteous, and efficient. House roofing and skylight were replaced in one day, and the shed roofing replacement took place early on the second day. No down payment was required before work began. Very happy with appearance of new roof, skylight, and flashing."

"The Home Doctor recently installed my new roofing system and did a wonderful job! My neighbor had used them and I saw their yard sign and gave them a call. They had their team out to my house within a week and then my roof installed within 2 weeks from then! My sales representative Daniella was incredible. I may have called her 10 times with questions before install and I was always able to reach her, I don't think I ever have to leave a message for her to call me back! Once the roof was installed Daniella came out to my house to make sure all went well and she even helped me with getting all the paperwork for my new roof sent over to my insurance company. I plan on doing my front door next year and will definitely be giving the home doctor and Daniella a call when I am ready."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, gable vents can let water in. That being said, this usually only occurs during extreme conditions like heavy rainfall. You can prevent water from entering through gable vents by adding a screen that traps the water before it can enter.

There should be small gaps between your roof and the walls of your home, and other buildings. These small gaps let building materials shift, expand, and contract with weather and other outside forces, and they prevent moisture from wicking down walls from roofing and gutter systems. Without these strategic gaps, your home’s exterior and its finishes can sustain water damage, decay, peel, delaminate, and crack. However, there is a fine line between a smart gap and a problematic gap—all  gaps should be small, intentional, and covered or filled in with foam insulation to prevent pests from using them as access points.

Winter is the least expensive time of year to replace a roof due to decreased demand. However, it’s not an ideal time to replace your roof, as there are numerous factors that can inhibit the work, including shorter days, snow and ice, and cold temperatures.

If a home isn’t properly winterized, the pipes can freeze and burst, causing flooding and massive property damage. It can also leave your house susceptible to pests, which can infest it and cause significant damage. Winterizing a home can prevent many potential issues and save you money on costly repairs.

Roofers don’t typically replace vent pipes themselves, but they do handle the flashing and seals around vent pipes when working on a roof. During a roof replacement or repair, roofers inspect the vent pipe flashing for damage, replace deteriorated seals, and ensure the pipe is properly integrated into the roofing system to prevent leaks. If the vent pipe itself is cracked or damaged, a plumber is usually required to replace it, while the roofer ensures the roofing components around the pipe remain watertight.
