Customers say: True professional

"Very professional. Good communication as to arrival and what work was going to be done. Jamie is a pleasure to work with. I've had him clean my dryer vents several times over the last few years. Will also be using him and his crew to fix some issues with a chimney. Highly recommend."

"I would HIGHLY recommend this company. We received an estimate for cleaning our chimney and fireplace when purchasing our home and the work ended up being far more extensive than the original estimate (major safety issue was found during cleaning). A&T Chimneys visited our home 4 times over the course of 2 months to finish the work. They worked around our schedules and were always on time, worked hard, and thoroughly explained all the work and future work. They were extremely reasonably priced and we do not believe we would have received anywhere near the same level of service from another provider.

"Excellent. They were on time and explained everything thoroughly. They took pictures of the chimney cap while up on the roof and explained what they saw and gave me options, while not being pushy. Would definitely use them again."

"The service was fine. The only thing is that they were really late coming. So, it was like dark when they got out of here. They left the area good when they were finished. It took them an hour-and-a-half to complete the job. They sent me a picture of the chimney. The price was great. They did show up."

"Two gentlemen arrived, very courteous and professional.  I escorted one gentleman to the furnace area to investigate what would be cleaned.  I was amazed to see what I saw!  Soot (looking more like crumbled dirt and sand) nearly filled the flue; solid evidence there was a serious and potentially unsafe problem in that side of the chimney.  The other gentleman shared that he'd go to the top of the chimney to advise me of the condition.  He also took pictures on their phones so I could see the condition above.  There was no cap on the furnace chimney (I had one on the fireplace chimney).  He also looked into the fireplace chimney which I greatly appreciated.  One gentleman advised me of the cost of the repairs, I agreed to the cost, and they began working.  These gentlemen were outstanding; demonstrating great concern for the safety of my home.  I would not hesitate to use them again.

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

A range hood is an exhaust fan for your kitchen, and several types and styles exist. They are meant to remove grease, moisture, and fumes from your stove. Although some models filter and recirculate the air, the most effective ones remove the air through a duct that’s vented to the outdoors.

A higher CFM will make the price of your range hood more expensive. It can be challenging to speculate how much the CFM rating affects price, but ductless range hoods—that don’t need as high of a CFM as ducted range hoods—are less expensive than their alternative. On average, ductless hoods cost between $100 and $300, while ducted hoods can cost as much as $1,000.

You should contact a local range hood installation professional to install your range hood and do the ductwork. Prices range from $50 to $100 per hour, with the total number of hours required varying based on the project complexity. Simple installations might take an hour or two, while more complicated ones can take four hours or more.

Smooth galvanized metal ducting is best and safest for venting a hood range. It’s best to avoid flexible and corrugated types of ducting, as these options don’t provide ample airflow and may not meet local code. For specific advice on which type of duct might be best for your kitchen, reach out to a range hood installation professional.

Most residential range hoods have a CFM between 200 and 600. A higher CFM means your range hood is better at removing smoke and odors from your kitchen. The measurement ultimately depends on your stove’s width and heat output as well as the size of your kitchen.

Compared to the average size of a stove and kitchen, 350 CFM would be the minimum recommended rating for the average kitchen. However, selecting a higher CFM range hood would guarantee better ventilation to match your cooking habits, whether they’re minimal or extensive.
