"We have 2 cracks for the chimney and wanted to have someone to look at it. Justin was very professional, he did a great work examing the chimney, the price are reasonable, we highly recommend this company."
"It went well, they were the ones that told me about the crack chimney but explained that they don't do that kind of work. However had to contact Angie's list back to hire a masonry. "
"We bought the Angies List special deal and scheduled the appointment. The man arrived on time, cleaned the chimney and left within about an hour. No deficiencies were noted which was good because we weren't sure how long it had been since the last time anyone has cleaned the chimney. "
"I had a great experience with this contractor. They came when they said they would to give me an estimate, the estimate was reasonable, and after collecting two others I chose them. They then came to repoint my chimney when they said they would, they did the work in the time they said it would take, and the finished product looks great. They also cleaned up after themselves thoroughly. The job was probably a little more complicated than usual because my air conditioner units are at the base of the chimney, but they navigated around them without any apparent difficulty. I am glad I used them and I would do so again! "
"The technicians redid the bricks so that you couldn't even tell they were repaired. It looked beautiful. They put in a new liner in the chimney and waterproofed it. They redid the inside of the fireplace to bring it up to code and put in a chain that easily opens and closes the flue. It looks so good and easy that I may decide to use the fireplace again. They redid the pipes in the basement so the fumes from the boiler and hot water heater went up the chimney in the correct way. There had been water damage and they corrected the damage and closed off the hole in the wall (foundation) and made a bigger hole in the correct place so that everything was up to code. They were polite, efficient and worked very hard to get the work done in the promised two days. I have interviewed many companies and found this company to be straight-forward in telling me what they would do and didn't try to tell me they were giving me a "good deal." Rather I feel they gave me an honest estimate on what needed to be done and didn't try to pressure me into using their company. They did give me 10% off because I was an Angie's List customer. What company to use was a hard decision for me because I knew nothing about chimney repair. Because so much of the repair was inside the chimney I couldn't tell what they had done. Based on my experience I feel they did a good job. I don't have a picture of the repaired chimney but it looks great--better than it did before the bricks fell. If someone wants more detail I can copy exactly what they did from the invoice. Also, maybe the company can show a picture of the finished product. Since it is summer time I haven't had any experience using the chimney but will let you know how things work out during the winter."
"The service was provided shortly after I purchased the deal and there were no additional charges but they came back and did some additional work for me. The service was fine and they resolved the problem but I ended up getting a larger job done after that. They took pictures of my chimneys and showed me the pictures. They were concerned about the deterioration in one of the chimneys that went to the furnace so they did the service."
"I called Chelsea’s Chimney in a panic on Saturday as my metal chimney cap came crashing down during a terrible storm. Greg Wiskirchen responded immediately, and quickly came out to fix the cap so that no rain would get in. He was on time, easy to communicate with, and completed the job with care. I’m a new home owner, and he was able to walk me through what happened and also took care of things so quickly. While he was out I had him look at a few other things, and he provided me honest feedback, followed by a super reasonable quote for some projects I would like done. I would highly recommend Greg and Chelsea’s Chimney and I will definitely be using their services again."
"The company showed up on time and conducted the shingle replacement being careful not to damage the gardens around the house. They brought the roof up to current code, (the roof no longer complied with local codes), and worked with our chimney company to install the flashing properly. The cleanup was performed in an acceptable manner and the work was finished on time. Follow-up inspections by the company and I showed I had a good roof that was going to last another long time. I would definitely recommend this company for roof work."
"I purchased a special deal through Angieslist, $99 for chimney sweep and $200 dollar worth of masonry/Chimney repair. The crew arrived on time and were very polite. When I showed them the woodburning stove insert they both seemed confused by it, they said they weren't familiar with inserts and weren't really sure how it worked. They cleaned it out but were not able to look in the chimney because of the way it was set up. One of the gentleman told me its fine to use as long as smoke doesn't start to come in the house. Obviously. I was under the impression that people that bill themselves as chimney sweeps would be able to figure out how to check out the actual chimney. Our house has another chimney in the rear that is not in use. There are gaps in the brick where the mortar has fallen out. I figured I'd use the $200 credit towards having them pointed. The gentleman went up on the roof and inspected the chimney. He said the chimney needed to be capped, rain was getting in and that was causing the erosion. Makes sense, during my home inspection the previous year we were told to have it done somewhere down the line. He said he would cap the chimney and seal the concrete around the chimney on the roof for an additional $200. He said there was no need to point the brickwork once the chimney is capped. The guys went on the roof for maybe 15 minutes and installed the cap and I guess seal something or other. I don't have a 40' ladder to get on the roof and actually see what they did but it couldn't have been much as they were only up there a few minutes and I didn't see them carry up any concrete. I suspect they probably used mortar sealant caulk which is fine but doesn't really equate to the price charged. My main gripe is that I paid $500 (99, 200 credit, 200 at time of service) for them to vacuum my fireplace insert and install a cap (found on home depot.com for $80) on the chimney. I get the feeling that when you buy this $99 deal they not really honoring the $200 credit. I'm no expert on this sort of thing but I don't think the work that was performed was anywhere near $500 worth. I also got the feeling they were in a bit of a hurry and that's part of the reason they didn't want to do the pointing work. "
No, you can’t install just any microwave over your range. You have to get a specific type of microwave known as an over-the-range unit. These include venting and lighting features that you’ll need above your stovetop.
Although countertop units are more affordable, they won’t work for this type of installation. To avoid hazardous conditions in your kitchen, buy the right type of microwave for your needs.
Most residential range hoods have a CFM between 200 and 600. A higher CFM means your range hood is better at removing smoke and odors from your kitchen. The measurement ultimately depends on your stove’s width and heat output as well as the size of your kitchen.
Compared to the average size of a stove and kitchen, 350 CFM would be the minimum recommended rating for the average kitchen. However, selecting a higher CFM range hood would guarantee better ventilation to match your cooking habits, whether they’re minimal or extensive.
A higher CFM will make the price of your range hood more expensive. It can be challenging to speculate how much the CFM rating affects price, but ductless range hoods—that don’t need as high of a CFM as ducted range hoods—are less expensive than their alternative. On average, ductless hoods cost between $100 and $300, while ducted hoods can cost as much as $1,000.
Neglected maintenance can lead to odors, fire hazards, impaired airflow, and reduced range and hood operation efficiency.
Regular cleaning of filters and checking ducting ensures effective operation.
